I apologize if Michael Taylor, our 23rd commitment of the Class of 2016, has already been discussed at length on MMQ and I missed it. I have a point and a question:

My point is that this guy looks extremely quick, extremely high energy. I'm not even close to being an expert, but his highlight film to me looks like a flat out stud.

My question is if there is any news on whether he going to make it onto campus in time to be on the team this fall?

I wonder if that means he's on campus? I guess we'll know in the next day or two.

Must mean he is eligible.

I am think he contributes heavily by the 3rd or 4th game in specialist rush situations and on Special Teams, could end up being a Freak.

So I take it you and Eric Bolin are pretty tight?

Not here yet.

http://www.wholehogsports.com/news/2016/aug/23/arkansas-signee-taylor-still-holding-pattern/

it says he'll play next year at JC if not here by Friday... if so, when he's available next year, will we still need a JC DE with 2 years eligibility?

I'd hate to see a college slow play transcripts just to help their football team... of course, that's wild conjecture on my part.

Karashian and tight are NEVER EVER one in the same. In fact, quite the opposite.

Apparently his coach said he wanted him to stay 1 more year at JC before leaving...not a surprise that there are random problems that keep popping up

pretty much puts an end to that speculation... looks as though he'll be here whether he plays or not...

Well?

Id be willing to bet he's here but doesnt get to play, unless there's a way we can get a waiver from the NCAA/SEC. Still glad he made it. A year with our team in practice will help next year when we lose a lot of seniors

Cant remember where but somebody confirmed he was here yesterday

Other than something like special teams it's tough for me to imagine him getting much playing time this season. Unless he is an "Einstein" when it comes to learning the playbook/defensive schemes it's going to be pretty difficult to see him contributing to any great degree. Certainly hope I'm proven wrong.

Right...until the d-coach calls a play you don't know and you create confusion by lining up wrong and the ball goes through the hole where you were supposed to be.  If he is cleared he will play this year because he doesn't have a redshirt year, or he suffers a injury and gets a medical redshirt.   If he plays its just a question of how long it takes for the coaches to trust him in a game.  Not knowing he fast he can pickup the schemes and calls its crazy to think he will make and immediate impact at a position we aren't weak in.

Other than that he's a stud and I'm very happy to have him!!!

Well,  I'm sure he will start off as a pass rush specialist as his 40 time is 4.6.  I'm sure he has lined up at pass rush end a time or 2 before so alignment shouldn't be rocket science. Therefore,  qb has the ball..  tackle the ball.

So we can expect to see him in the first game?  First Qtr?  First defensive series?  Tell us what you expect.

I don't know when the kid will see the fld butto act like it'll take home 6 months to figure out how to rush the qb is ridiculous

I said he will see the field just as soon as the coaches trust him.  Don't have a clue when that will be.

Well if you actually played the game on defense then you obviously played a different game than I 'cause raw talent/speed doesn't necessarily mean success. You might want to have a very firm grasp on the schemes and assignments, both yours and your teammates, before you just go out there and run around. Geez........

Since he is a big, strong, fast athlete and not able to redshirt, he will most likely contribute on special teams and the scout team. I doubt he gets much playing time in the line rotation. There is a lot we don't know. Even if he picks up the playbook he might not even be in shape to play in the SEC at all. And even if he is way ahead of the curve there is no guarantee he is able to take PT away from the guys who currently are on the depth chart. We have good DEs.

He has a much better chance to be a significant contributor next year. He has 3 to play 3 so there is no rush.

None of this is a knock on him.. just a recognition that it is just going to be really hard for him to accomplish much when almost every practice rep once the season starts goes to the top of the rotation trying to prepare for the next game.

I played many moons ago. I was just saying you act like it'll take him forever to pick up the defense.  Best I can remember, lineman didn't have as many keys and reads as say a linebacker. Just never mind. Not worth the argument

It's much different, they all have gap responsibilities, it's not chase the ball. Now, there are packages of speed rushers, but even then you have containment.

I'll remember all that when I watch a DE come off the edge full speed to the QB for sack. Lol

ridgehog23

All I'm saying is this isn't the first time the kid has played on d line. It shouldn't be very hard to get him a package or two quickly, to play on passing downs. Kids 250 and runs 4.6 40. Coach b wanted him so gotta be something there.

Just as long as you remember when a QB takes off running when a DE runs himself out of his rush lane, lol. If you took time to read the sentence about a package for speed rushers, then you should have comprehended that.
