Yesterday was the first time I can ever remember completely forgetting an Arkansas Razorbacks Basketball game was on.  Sure, I was busy with Thanksgiving, but I just don't miss Razorbacks Bball or Fball events.

I got the update on my phone after it was over. I actually felt relieved that I didn't watch it after seeing we lost.

I'm getting back on track this morning, but it made me think of just how bad this program has gotten... That or my memory.

Sad isn't it.

We like to give our opinions on here but lets get real.  Only if the Big Donors are upset enough to stop or reduce their donations will anything change

I think most on here want to give Mike another year but  I wonder what would happen if a big time NCAA coach who would put us back into the NCAA discussions told Long he wanted this job what would happen?

Good lord dude?? Really???  We won 27 games last year!?  NO apathy here and for good reason.  Just concentrate on football us fans will be ok.

HiggiePiggy

Program is turning around and has gotten better every year MA has been here.  This year will probably be a small set back, but looking at this program now compared to what it was in the 90s is really depressing.

MA has a long way before people really start paying attention again.   That and the price of games needs to come down. Heck aren't our tickets higher than Kentucky?
If a man speaks and no woman is around to hear him, is he still wrong?

Yet the football team can go 500 overall and the coach is a rockstar.

Speaking of apathy, I don't give damn what you think.  For those of you that do care, Hogs play in about 75 minutes on ESPNU.   :razorback:

"Just how bad this program has gotten."

We had our best year in nearly 20 years last year and have improved every year under Mike's tenure. We have a top 25 class (so far) coming in next year.

It's fine to be apathetic this year (I am), but don't pretend we're still in the Pelphrey years where it's some kind of gradual decline into mediocrity that drives you into apathy.

Believe it or not, some non-powerhouse programs have off years. We're having one.

MountieDawg

All 100 hundred fans at the game were not apathetic.  They were excited to be able to set where ever they wanted to in the gym.  What is sad is that a year with 1 NCAAT win is the best season in 20 years.  This has to be the worst draw the pre-season NIT has ever seen.
SEC!

pigroots

We are getting better overall but I agree that apathy has set in. You can see it in the stands and in the number of posters on here as well. The problem is we are not at a place where we are competitive with nationally ranked teams this year as we are accustomed to being. We need some good recruits to come on board to restore the upward direction. 15 wins is not going to get anyone excited. Not signing Monk hurt, if for no other reason, he's a nationally ranked player 15 minutes from campus and he chooses to go across the country to play for a rival. What does that say about our program? Nolan used to say we don't recruit..they recruit us. That idea got him in trouble but it says a little about where the hogs are now

Falling from 3 Final Fours in the 1990s to winning only two NCAA tournament games over a 16-year span from 2000 until 2015 will create a whole lot of apathy.

Can you imagine what would happen in KY if the Wildcats went on a 16-year span with only 2 NCAA tournament wins, and making the tournament field only 6 times?

oldbooniehog

It will take a lot more than one decent season to repair the damage that's been done since 2000.

A whole lot more.

Karma

This season isn't going to be able to build on last year's very good year. Maybe they can do better than expected and the new guys can turn it around next year.

Kevin

Apathy happens when this is the roster, after you don't capitize in recruiting after building the program to 27 wins

Apathy is when you are able to turn on the tv at any time in the last five years and see the exact same thing over and over and over....and that ain't good....someone was bitching about CBB going .500 and being a rockstar ....hell he will change some coaches and strategy to improve....all our basketball program does is change where they practice and who is at practice...yeah...apathy is the word

pigroots

The game today is a great example of why there is apathy for the basketball program. No way in the world the hogs should have lost that game. Getting outscored 21-1 in the last 6 minutes. I thought the fastest 40 minutes was all about wearing the other team down. There are no words or excuses for that kind of finish

ErieHog

There's so much apathy that we generate more posts about a team that we don't care about losing a game, than our top flight baseball program does in a typical weekend series.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Me too honestly...and I think that this year it will. I do hate the trend that happens in MMQB and JB of where people just argue for the fact they are mad. I spend a vast majority in there and there are quite a few regulars that generate quality discussion over quantity discussion. The fact that people are discussing basketball doesn't mean they care. I have wanted basketball to be much much more in the last 20 years and I am numb to the fact that it hasn't and doesn't seem to trend toward going to be much more. Football is a yo-yo and the only consistent sport has been baseball( even though it can be frustrating at points).

SEC is worse than the BIG 10, Big 12, PAC 12 and the ACC on the gridiron this year.
