Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson, who won national titles as coach at Georgia Southern in 1999 and 2000, would prefer something closer to the I-AA playoffs. The number Johnson would favor is 16.

QuoteGeorgia coach Mark Richt doesn't want a playoff to get too big.

"If you had a 16-team playoff, there would be too many games in my mind," he said. "Whether you win or lose, you're still in the playoffs. The game doesn't mean as much. I think that's a little bit dangerous. A lot of leagues, a lot of sports across America, things don't get heated up until the playoffs. With college football, things get heated up game one, game two."

Richt supports the four-team format.
