Scheduling Question

When do they set the football schedule?  I've heard anywhere from 1 to 7 years beforehand.

Although the schedule could be set several years in advance, most of the time all of the "holes" aren't filled until 1-2 years out, especially with the "extra" games...

Most of the rent a wins are scheduled just a couple of years out but the big names are sometimes out farther than
that. The reason why there is no big name on our schedule next year is because USC fell of and TEXAS comes on in
2008 so if they would have scheduled another big opponent then we would have had 2 on the schedule for at least one year and they did not want to do that. I can't say that I blame them with the SEC schedule that we play.
