Two questions:

1. Is there any reason to think he would show interest in us?

2. Does have any pending felony assaults or anything like some of the other OU RBs have?

The second one was more of my snarky OU hate, but seriously.  Did we recruit this dude, where's he from originally ect?

FraggleHog

Just my opinion (obviously), but if CBB is granting transfer release to a RB that he has publicly stated he loves, I would think the Hogs are in the market for a new RB at this time. Sounds like he is happy with the depth at that position

Did you not click on the player link? I'd think someone from Jenks, OK would have some interest in us, but who knows?

6-2 213 4.43 I would take him

Arkansas is almost in the position where they needs a RB transfer for the fall.

I'm confused, you do, or don't think he is happy with the depth? And he mentioned that we are looking at accepting some Grad transfers, so it's a possibility, may not be a probability, though.

My apologies... I meant to say " I would think the Hogs aren't in the market for a new RB at this time."

I do think CBB is happy with the depth at the position. I thought we were looking at grad transfers for the OLine... But one thing i've learned is no-one really ever guesses accurately what CBB is doing (e.g. coaching hires)

Could be but I would think he goes somewhere that he can pretty much start immediately

Might be more serviceable than Evans

Good find... We very well could be looking at him as a KR and PR specialist

Bingo! And while we might enter the season fairly happy with our rb situation, an injury or two along the way would quickly whittle down a position where unlike WR we aren't exactly stacked high with depth. I would just guess too that CBB might want to be in a position to possibly redshirt at least one of the true freshmen coming in.

He'd arguably be our most accomplished RB.

From prior to the 2015 season:

OU running back Alex Ross has been named to the Preseason All-America First Team (Special Teams) by CBS Sports.
The 6-1, 220 lb junior earned All-Big 12 First team honors as a kick returner during the 2014 season by 247Sports, Athlon Sports, ESPN and FoxSportsSouthwest.com and All-Big 12 Second Team honors by Phil Steele.

The former Jenks Trojan played in all of Oklahoma's 13 games, with starts against Louisiana Tech, West Virginia and TCU.

In the Russell Athletic Bowl, Ross scored a rushing touchdown and gained 31 yards on two carries and returned one kick for 14 yards (against Clemson).

Against Oklahoma State, he tied his career-high with 13 rushes, gaining 42 yards, and returned a career-high four kicks for 110 yards.

24/7 article says Tulsa is a potential option, nothing about us. Did anybody on our staff ever recruit this kid? I'm assuming there's a reason he got relegated to special teams at OU even with his measurables.

He would probably walk right into a starting role at Tulsa and get plenty of carries and more opportunities for catches out of the backfield than he has seen at OU, which would help his draft stock. Might even eclipse 1,000 yards at Tulsa, but that isn't the SEC where he would most likely be relegated to the same duty, a back-up at RB and returning kick-offs.

Granted I am a salesman, but I feel very confident I could sell the kid on the exact same situation here. He was the #1 player in Oklahoma coming out of HS. Walker is hurt and injury prone. We basically have only Whaley in the world's eyes. #easysell

Ross is a good kid. Had the bad luck of getting injured right when Perine was ready to break out, then Mixon came off suspension the next season and pushed him down the depth chart, otherwise he probably would have gotten decent playing time for the Sooners.

This is a lot like Trevor Knight's transfers. Good, team-first guys who just want to play in their senior seasons. If he was fine continuing to play special teams and the occasional change of pace carry, he'd stick it out at OU.

I do wonder why he didn't transfer earlier so he could have potentially landed at a bigger school than Tulsa. He's got the talent to at least be in a committee somewhere.

There is no doubt in my mind that a RB transfer would be anything but positive for the Hogs.

That kid would be a beast in this system! Totally be like having a JWill-lite appearing out of nowhere, seasoned and rested and ready to give it 100.

He'd also be the only player on the team to have a win over Bama.

He could arguably do as much to improve his draft stock here as he could racking up a bunch of yards at Tulsa.

Speculation. Unfounded. (I'm just kidding) He's a good athlete and of that there isn't any doubt. He could add valuable depth when we need it. But anything beyond that and being able to be a kick off returner who averaged one more yard per return than we did last year, is pure speculation and hope on our part. That said, you never know, he might be able to walk right in and grasp the offensive system and be a major contributor the from the very first week. Still, I wouldn't be surprised to see him land at some place like Tulsa.

It would be a good pick up .

Mizzou's carrying five RB's on the roster into 2016, but he'd definitely have the most experience.
