Elite 2026 QB Jared Curtis commits to Georgia

by:
Hunter Shelton

QuoteNashville Christian four-star quarterback Jared Curtis has committed to Georgia.

He chose the Bulldogs over the likes of Ohio State, Tennessee and Texas.

Curtis is the No. 3 overall QB in the 2026 cycle.

Nationally, he checks in as the No. 14 overall prospect.

6-foot-3, 200-pounder has taken plenty of visits to Athens — including a recent trip in January.

"I love the way they continue to win and they are a great team and any quarterback that goes there will always have talent around them," Curtis told On3. "I feel that they will recruit the best of the best and they are a powerhouse school that will start to take over for sure. Those things stand out about Georgia.

"Coach (Mike) Bobo and coach (Montgomery) VanGorder do a great job recruiting me," he told On3's Chad Simmons in January.

Curtis is the Dawgs' first pledge in the 2026 cycle. UGA finished with the top-ranked class in the 2024 cycle and currently own a top-three pledge list in the class of 2025. The elite gunslinger is a major addition for Kirby Smart and Co.

Kirby Smart: Fast cars and college football players a growing issue

QuoteATHENS — Georgia running back Trevor Etienne was driving a $140,000 Audi RS7 when he was pulled over at 1:50 a.m. Sunday for driving more than 80 mph on a two-lane road after a night of alleged drinking in downtown Athens.

The Audi RS7 is described as by Car and Driver magazine as a midsize high-performance sedan with a hatchback-style trunk that is powered by a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine and can accelerate from 0-to-60 mph in 3.3 seconds. It retails between $131,000-$151,000 depending on options (tinted windows).

Former Bulldog Jalen Carter was driving a 2021 Jeep Trackhawk with a 707-horsepower, V8 "Hellcat" engine that retails for $105,000 when police say he was racing on Barnett Shoals Road in the early morning hours of Jan. 15, 2023. UGA staffer Chandler LeCroy and teammate Devin Willock, the driver and the occupant, respectively, of the car police say Carter was racing, died in a crash while driving 100 mph trying to keep up with Carter and his Trackhawk.

Police: Georgia's Trevor Etienne driving 80-90 mph before DUI arrest

Six weeks ago, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck acquired a 2024 Lamborghini UROS Performante that retails for about $300,000 and can go 0-to-60 mph in 3.1 seconds. In previous years, the car of choice among Bulldogs was a Dodge Challenger Hellcat SRT. It takes slightly longer — 3.7 seconds – to get up to 60.

WR Jayvan Boggs visiting Georgia this weekend

by:
Keegan Pope

QuoteCocoa (Fla.) four-star wide receiver Jayvan Boggs backed off his longtime commitment to Ohio State earlier this week, as numerous other schools pursue him.

One of the programs pushing the hardest recently has been Georgia, with the Bulldogs looking to add elite playmakers to their 2025 class.

Almost immediately Boggs announced his decommitment, news broke that he would be visiting Athens this weekend. And on Friday, he arrived.

📍@GeorgiaFootball

Notre Dame, UCF and Missouri are among the teams who are also in pursuit of the nation's No. 212 overall prospect, No. 26 wide receiver and No. 32 recruit from Florida in the 2025

In-state Florida and Miami are continuing to recruit Boggs
Boggs was at Miami late in January.

Georgia looks to have its hands full when it comes to competition for Boggs, but the Bulldogs getting a visit this soon after his commitment is only a good sign. UGA does not currently have a wide receiver committed

4-star IOL Mason Short commits to Georgia: 'You're never going to go wrong with Georgia'

by: Chad Simmons

QuoteEvans (Ga.) four-star interior offensive lineman Mason Short announced his decommitment from Alabama on Jan. 16. That decision came three days after he took an unofficial visit to Georgia.

Bulldogs have been a consistent presence in Short's recruitment, as the 6-foot-5.5, 300-pound recruit has visited Athens more than 20 times. Short will certainly be returning there in the future after announcing his commitment to Georgia on Friday.

"You're never going to go wrong with Georgia," Short told On3.

"It's the same with coach Kirby Smart and his message to his players. He says that you can't hide from the smoke at Georgia. That's true at a lot of places, but at Georgia, it's really true."

The four-star likes how Smart has developed a brotherhood within the SEC program and allows his players to hold each other accountable. Short is confident that Smart is someone that will make him better on and off the field.
