Predictions? We can all agree that for the perception of the SEC it would be nice to win this thing for once. I think it is close

Saturday, January 28
Texas A&M at West Virginia            ESPN    Noon ET
Florida at Oklahoma                     ESPN      1:00 pm CT
Kansas State at Tennessee             ESPN2      1:00 pm CT
LSU at Texas Tech                     ESPNU       1:00 pm CT
Texas at Georgia                     ESPN    3:00 pm CT
Iowa State at Vanderbilt            ESPN2    3:00 pm CT
Arkansas at Oklahoma State        ESPNU    3:00 pm CT
Kansas at Kentucky                     ESPN    5:00 pm CT
Baylor at Mississippi     ESPN2    5:00 pm CT
Auburn at TCU     ESPNU    5:00 pm CT

I'm going to go with a 5/5 split.

BannerMountainMan

I can see a 7-3, giving Auburn the upset!!

BannerMountainMan

A&M, LSU, and Ole Miss only teams losing, probably Auburn but I'm giving them the upset

If the perception of the conference is ever going to change, it needs to do better in these contests.  Hopefully this is the year we play them even or better.

Letsroll1200

I'm going with Vandy over Iowa State!!

Atlhogfan1

A&M at WV:  WV's opponents turn it over on avg 25 times per game @WV, A&M turns it over a lot

UGa has to get it together.  That was ugly last night after their A&M meltdown.
Quote from: MaconBacon on March 22, 2018, 10:30:04 amWe had a good run in the 90's and one NC and now the whole state still laments that we are a top seed program and have kids standing in line to come to good ole Arkansas.  We're just a flash in the pan boys.

hogwood

4-6 with TX beating GA. Otherwise same as OP.

hog.goblin

I'm going with 6 - 4 SEC

Winners
Hogs
Kentucky
Georgia
Auburn
TN
FL

Losers

"2. Arkansas at Oklahoma State

Records (Ken Pom ranking): Arkansas 16-4 (44); Oklahoma State 12-8 (27)

Time/TV: 3 p.m. on ESPNU

By RPI, a victory would be Razorbacks' best of season, and Cowboys' second best.

Pick: Oklahoma State"

KC Star blog ranks our game as second best of the challenge.

It was showing no. 3 Gonzaga's (good wins ) and it had Tennessee so shouldn't that be a really good win for us??

I mean it's our best win right now, but not exactly a great resume win. A win today would be huge for our RPI and beating a 2nd big 12 team.

The only day of the year to root for Kentucky! No fan base is more arrogant than the Jayhawks.

A&M playing good! Even without Hogg!

44 and 27----I'm assuming that's RPI.  How in the world did OSU's get that high.  SOS?

Not RPI.  Kenpom's calculation.  Yes their SOS contributes to inflating their numbers.

Gosh you just look at the skills and talent those guys have and you just think they should be much better than they are, now they didn't have a snowballs chance today! They definitely got the worst draw.

they had it to 6 and got a clean deflection but called a foul and went downhill from there, what kinda of refs are doing these games? SEC or big 12 or some other conf?

All the same.

SEC doesn't have their own officiating crew. Very few, if any do. I see refs we've had do big 12 and other games as well.

A & M showed well on the road.. if SEC wins some games this one will be looked upon favorably

"Kevaughn Allen from Little Rock, Arkansas" drains the big 3 for Florida early on.  I hate that guy.

Brent Musburger is calling this game like he should be on suicide watch, poor guy. Someone put some Prozac in his coffee, please. It's clear he's not ready to retire.

This game plus commentary = watching paint dry.

If Florida could shoot the 3 even a lil they would be so much better

Sagarin's chances of each team winning from greatest chance to least.

79% - Kentucky vs Kansas
66% - Florida @ Oklahoma
64% - Georgia vs Texas
49% - Tennessee vs KSU
32% - Vanderbilt vs Iowa State
28% - Arkansas @ Oklahoma State
20% - Auburn @ TCU
19% - Ole Miss vs Baylor
9% - LSU @ Texas Tech
6% - Texas A&M @ West Virginia
3.64 Total Wins

I'd like to think our chances of beating OSU are higher than that. If we get 4 the computers would say it's a good day. I'd like a 50/50 split.

XavierZane

Man, Kansas State is looking hapless and panicked.  Three timeouts in fifteen minutes!?

... and they still go into halftime down seventeen.  Oklahoma isn't looking too hot either.  SEC may come out of this day looking pretty good.

SEC has a good chance of going 6-4 or 7-3, that may trump or get even with this loss today to tell you the truth, sorry to tell yah haters.

It won't trump it, or make it pretty, but it will help a lot if the league wins this challenge.

The SEC has *never* won the SEC-B12 Challenge.   The closest it has sniffed in the formal challenge era is going 4-6.

That will be a nice boost to the RPI of the whole conference, if it happens.    So, root for Kentucky tonight, as much as you might not like to.

Any possible finish, short of Auburn finding a way to collapse and the other two being swept, will be the best finish for the league in the SEC/B12 challenge.

Will it matter?  SEC going to have a 5th team remotely close to bubble for it to matter?

It can matter.   The amount of cannibalism that happens in the B10, B12, and ACC tournaments might make a Georgia type team a viable bubble possibility if they made it to Championship Sunday, or even the day before.

The real question will be the RPI hit that the B12 might take if Baylor gets beat by Ole Miss;  that could be a big rock in a small pond.
