He was a finalist last year, so several voters have obviously seen him play or at least heard of him. I realize you have to be promoted by ESPN, I was just surprised at Herbstreit's arrogant attitude while actually admitting it.

Landry Jones will win the Heisman.  If I had throw away money to bet on it I would.  OU will run the table and he's already the darling of the ESPN hype-machine.  Also, he meets the required criteria for the Heisman:

Make it to the BCS title game:  Most likely a check
Be a QB for a traditional powerhouse: check
Perform on ESPN several times a year: check
Be talked about on ESPN gameday, ESPN CFB live every damn day!: check
Play for the #1 team: check

It's basically Jones' and OU's to give away.

But you forget about Troy Smith, Danny Wuerffel, Ron Dayne, Matt Leinart, Geno Toretti, and Eric Crouch, all who had Hall of Fame NFL careers!


Actually the only one I can think of recently who has had a great career is Charles Woodson.  Ricky Williams has been so-so.  Some of the older running backs did pretty well.  Didn't Dickerson win the Heisman.

Bush and Palmer have been marginal.

Troy Smith won DMAC's Heinzman. DMAC had two big losses where he didn't play well the year Tebow one.

The voters gave the nod to Troy Smith because Darren McFadden was a sophomore and they wouldn't give it to a sophomore. The next 3 season's saw 3 straight sophomores win it...Tebow, Bradford, and Ingram. The award means almost as little to me as the Baseball HOF without Pete Rose.

People...Tebow WON the Heisman over McFadden.  It was the year before that they gave it to Troy Smith. 

You have to remember that they said McFadden couldn't win it as a sophomore.  Had that stupid rule not existed the first time he was up for it, he'd have beaten Smith handily.  Only the next year did they change it which then gave it to the person who had the best season.
