Should college football have an early signing period like basketball?

I believe the AD at Georgia had a good take on this.  If an early signing period is adopted it will likely become THE signing period like it pretty much has in basketball with the late signing period being far less significant.

I agree with having an early signing period or just moving the current one up.  I've got to believe most recruits would appreciate being able to get it over with as early as possible.

A lot of recruits enjoy the attention they get on the official visits too.  And getting their way paid is the only way some of these guys can afford to get on campus to have a look around.  The early signing period the way it was worded would prohibit these guys from taking any official visits therefore causing some of them to have to make some uninformed decisions.
