Somewhat surprised at Tennessee staying ahead of us, given similar resumes when they have more losses and we beat them head to head.

The Houston loss was certainly worse than any of UT's three losses though.

If we can manage 2-0 on the road this week against two solid one loss teams, we'll keep
Climbing.

It's still too low, especially with 9-3 Tennessee who we just beat right ahead of us.  It's all good though.  The chip on our guys shoulders just gets a bit bigger.  Mike will spin this into a motivational tactic.  If we keep winning and playing up to our ability, they will be forced to rank us higher.

Tennessee is still living off that close loss to UNC.  Had we played the Heels within 6 at PK80, we'd be getting more love than we are, even with the Houston debacle.

They played Nova close, too.

All three of their losses are to top 10 RPI teams who are ranked in both polls compared to our Houston loss.

But our signature win (OU) is arguably better than theirs (Purdue).

You can still make the argument that Tennessee would be better on a neutral floor, so it doesn't bother me too much that some place them higher. While we aren't playing top tier competition this week, two wins should push us into the mid-high teens, and should still be ranked with just one loss.

I'm okay with it. If we would have played Tennessee at home or on a Neutral Floor, they would have most likely won. Bud Walton kept our team in the game. It's a minimum of a +5 pt advantage for us.

Good point. It's not shocking, but I still would've given the hogs the nod due to only having 2 losses and to having the better signature win.

But Arkansas and Tennessee should be similarly ranked right now, and we are. I don't know that we'd win in Knoxville.

And we have an RPI of 4 and they are 9?

Yes but as the announcers stated during the game, "Tennessee is clearly the better team."

It's like the Coaches on the poll committee don't watch SEC Basketball... Oh wait, they don't... And claim we're "Down again this year"

The coaches don't really participate in these polls for they most part. It's usually someone in the athletic department.

Nope. Their RPI is 12. Ours is 4.

Us and TN have very similar resumes and rankings. But at the end of the season we got the W. It'll work itself out.

We shouldn't have been worried about them to begin with. Especially the players.

Never did.  The players need to stop feeling disrespected about our ranking and start beating average teams on the road.

HogCzar1

There was WAY too much emphasis on the polls. Come on folks. This team is going to have to learn to win games like tonight. Until we can show we are tough enough to win road games we need to quit worrying about where we are ranked. And, after tonight we probably don't need to worry anyway.

The poll talk was before the loss. Don't waste your breath with "I told you so".
