I do have to give credit for the two threads living in the future looking at coaches to replace a guy not yet fired.

What do you expect people to discuss? Our plan to beat Auburn?
It really is this simple. Unchecked government power leads to corruption, and lack of accountability for it is drastically eroding confidence in our institutions.    aristotle

90% of our fan base, and apparently our BMD's, all live in the past.

Dreaming about the greatness of butch Davis, and if he can come resurrect our program. Some still think Gus could save us because he is from arkansas.

Our fan base is a bunch of idiots, and so are a lot of our very rich donors. They don't know a thing about football.

because one can always re-live the 31-6 thrashing that the double-digit underdog Razorbacks gave to #2 ranked University of Oklahoma Sooners in the 1978 Orange Bowl....

I understand your point and agree, we need to be looking at our future right now, and what we're going to do when Bielema gets fired, but let's face it......right now the only thing we have to remember we aren't some joke of a program is the past......we've had our up years and our down years, but we've never been this bad off I don't believe......

BUt they do not even bring that stuff up. They bring up Fulmer, and HDn, and JLS. Stuff they know will get replies and clicks, imo.

Like this thread I started, I know it will bug some people so they will reply.

Sometimes to see the future, one must look at the past.

I can look at the past 25 years in the SEC and see the future is going to be about 7-8 wins on average. With some years under that a a couple above. IS that what you mean?

What about when they beat SWMS 100-0 back in 1911 or Ouachita 56-0 in 1909?

Yeah, I don't get the Fulmer stuff, or the HDN complaints because we did get Petrino out of that deal and YES I know how that ended, but for a few years there, especially his last two, we got to see our Hogs play some of the best football they'd played since the 80s.....getting all the way up to 3rd before that LSU loss.........but JLS I do understand.........I think it's okay for us to compare this team to his, because we need to ask ourselves a serious question.....

too far back... Tell me about it......first you have all these people on here saying "Oh we are not going to get beat down by 'Bama, even A&M didn't do that bad.....nope, we've kept it close these last few seasons and we will again this season"
Final Score: BAMA 41 HOGS 9

Now these same fans are saying, "We knew we were going to get thrashed by Bama, but Auburn is no Bama, we are going to hang with them at home, oh, and we're going to pull off Bert's biggest upset yet!!!!"

I wonder what they'll say after we get thrashed by Auburn......

You bring up the past a lot yourself. Of course when you bring it up it's either to tell us it really wasn't very good or Petrino had very little to do with us winning while he was here.

You're the biggest downer on Hogville.

I remember watching that game, and it was glorious. I remember the 1st game I went to in 1979. Houston, in Fay. ABC game of the week. Just off beating Texas and Houston was the last hurdle to a likely 11-0 season. Hogs lost to Houston ( granted a UH team that went 11-1 ) 13-10. Holtz played for a tie and Ish kicked the ball right into a helmet. He was right in front of my seat when he kicked it. Yet another almost in the annals of Hog football.

Because under the present administration it sucks.

Seebs

It may be that collectively we are awful at living in the now and horrible at predicting the future. Many continue to rewrite the past in hopes that it somehow becomes actual truth.

It could also be that PornHub is down.

To add a "sig line" or "signature line": Go to your "profile" then go to "modify profile" then scroll down to where it says "Signature" and type in what you want it to say and then click on "change profile". That's it, you're done. Your sig line will only show up on your first post on each page.

Maybe Hogville loves to live in the past so much because we are 10-25 in conference games since Bret Bielema became our coach,
we haven't done much in football since joining the Southeast Conference.  The 10 and 11 win seasons under Petrino don't make up for
all of the mediocre seasons under Ford, Nutt, and Bielema.

Because we love reminiscing when the HOGS stomped a big mudhole in #2 ranked OU in the 1978 Orange Bowl.... (oh, and the best thing about it was that we were double-digit underdogs and no one, not even Hog "fans" gave us a chance to win.... and, and...  our 3rd string running back set a Orange Bowl rushing record that stood for over 30 years)
