Yeah right.

Wisco Pig

Biggers (.326) bunts to the mound.  The pitcher throws to 3rd and gets the out.

Hogs still on 1st and 2nd, one out.

Wisco Pig

Cole, now at .404 and batting from the left side this time, strikes out swinging at an 0-2 pitch.

Men on 1st and 2nd, two outs.

Wisco Pig

Martin (.400) gets behind in the count, 0-2, 1-2, hits a liner just foul over third, runs the count even at 2, and then strikes out.

Hogs strand two runners and trail after 5, 5 to 3.

Wisco Pig

The Golden Flashes send the bottom of the order -- O'Brien, Elsen, and Hollander -- to the plate in the 6th.

Reindl remains on the mound for Arkansas.

SPAL

The inability to execute a bunt killed the inning.

Errors and not executing in the fundamentals are haunting us so far this season.

Real hard if you're on Dickson St. fixin a drink.  No link when

Kanavas singles down the RF line on a full count.  Mamarella advances to third.

Reindl will be replaced by Cronin.

Both base hits in the inning have been bloopers.   Hopefully, Cronin can get the Hogs out of this.

How so?

Pitchers are not throwing 3 straight hittable balls.  It's just swing happiness instead of working the count and waiting for a good pitch

Without watching the game, we have no way to know this.  For all we know, the zone is bigger or those pitches are just too close to take.

I know the old adage is that there will always be one good pitch to hit in an AB, but you also don't want to go down looking on a close pitch.

Wisco Pig

Parks strikes out swinging on a 1-2 pitch.

One out, men on 1st and 3rd.

Wisco Pig

Dalporto (0 for 3) flies out to Fletcher in CF.   The throw home is cut off and the runner scores.

Kent State takes a 6-3 lead.   Two outs, man on first.

Wisco Pig

Kanavas is thrown out at second trying to steal the base.

After 6 1/2, Kent St. leads, 6-3.

It's a generalized statement.  It may not be able to be applied to every at bat.  But it doesn't just apply to the third strike.  Maybe you swung at a hittable pitch on strike 3 protecting the plate but you swung at garbage on your first two pitches.

In general if you strike out after 3 pitches, unless you are facing a Cy Young winner, it's probably bad plate discipline.
