Read about this in the NY Times: a free, 8 week, on-line course offered by Stanford University. Here's a link to the NY Times article --> http://www.nytimes.com/2013/10/12/your-money/for-students-of-all-ages-an-online-course-on-retirement-planning.html?src=me

And one for information from the instructor and to sign up  the course --> http://online.stanford.edu/course/rauh-finance

Did I say it was free.

Going to bump this up. I'm in week three and enjoying the course so far.

Don't know how many took advantage of this on-line course from Stanford but it was well worth my time and effort. Stanford has released their Summer schedule and I've registered for the Principles of Economics course. All courses are free.

Principles of Economics

Starts June 24: This course is designed as an eight-week introduction to the study of economics, exposing participants to the economic way of thinking and the functioning of a modern market economy. The course covers microeconomic analysis (including the behavior of consumers and firms); moves on to macroeconomic concepts such as national production, employment, inflation and interest rates; and then on to the role of government regulation, monetary policy, and fiscal policy.
