Ray Rice, who was shown this offseason on video dragging his unconscious wife out of an elevator after allegedly knocking her out days before their wedding, spoke to the media on Friday. Rice and his wife were seated in front of the Ravens' backdrop, and the Ravens' official Twitter account was eager to report as many quotes as possible to make a contrite Rice appear to be a sympathetic figure.

Does this mean that she admits to opening her mouth and not STFU soon enough? Well, I am glad that this lady can admit to her mistakes and learn from them.

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

Yeah, Goodell screwed the pooch on this one.  Women everywhere, and James Harrison, have to be like...2 games? Say what?

Rice's actions were horrible. However, he has now been thrown under the bus by the NFL (No Fundamental League) and the Ravens. Part of me wants him to take his punishment. But the other parts wants him to sue the snot of the NFL and the Ravens. This is outrageous. He was already suspended once and now they suspend him indefinitely and he gets fired! Pure PR stunt and now it's going to bit them in the butt. All three parties are stupid!

I don't think he'd have a cause of action to sue the NFL or the Ravens.

I don't have to tell you when a contract or collective bargaining agreement is in play that lawsuits can always happen. Will he win, who knows?

he will never play on any NFL team again    1st  running backs are a dime a dozen that is why you will never see a team use a really high pick on one again unless they are a combination of Jim Brown and OJ Simpson (power and speed) again   The Ravens are lucky to get rid of his high salary and eroding skills  It would be a pr nightmare to take him at this time

Ray Rice issues public apology for 'horrible mistake' as 1-year anniversary of elevator incident nears | http://ow.ly/J0soM

QuoteDear Baltimore,

This is not a farewell or goodbye. The last seven years that my family and I have spent in Baltimore have by far been the best of our lives. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all for the love and support you've shown my family and I throughout my football career. We'll always be grateful for the love we've received from all of our fans and supporters, and for winning a Super Bowl. To all the kids who looked up to me, I'm truly sorry for letting you down, but I hope it's helped you learn that one bad decision can turn your dream into a nightmare. There is no excuse for domestic violence, and I apologize for the horrible mistake I made. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me, and I hope to make a positive difference in people's lives by raising awareness of this issue. Thank you, Baltimore Ravens, for all you have done for my family and I. I'm very grateful to Steve Bisciotti, Ozzie Newsome, John Harbaugh, and everyone at 1 Winning Drive. I love you all very much, and I'll always be proud to say I played for the Baltimore Ravens.

Thank you.

-- Ray Rice

After a turbulent domestic situation off the field and being cut by the Baltimore Ravens and essentially locked out of the NFL  for a year, Ray Rice was welcomed back at Rutgers, where he was a key player in the rise of the Scarlet Knights program under Greg Schiano. Rice was invited back for the Friday night spring scrimmage by current Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood, who felt the time was right to help a member of the Rutgers family.

Quote"I reached out to Ray. I thought we had an opportunity here for Ray to give a very important message to our football players and he did that today," Flood explained after the Friday night scrimmage.

"The message was really simple; you can do a lot of great things in your life. You can do charitable works at home and in the cities you are working in, but if you make the wrong decision, you're going to have to be accountable for it," Flood explained. "Ray made a wrong decision and he's held himself accountable for it. He's paid the price for it and I thought today was an opportunity for him to deliver a message to prevent one of our young people from doing that in the future."

How did TMZ get the video of Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice that sent the NFL into upheaval in 2014? http://ow.ly/YlDxE

QuoteRice was suspended for two games by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for an incident at a hotel in Atlantic City, N.J., on Feb. 15, 2014. Rice and his fiancée, Janay Palmer, entered an elevator arguing, and, when the elevator doors opened, Palmer was lying unconscious.

Schmidle reported that security guards at the hotel almost immediately wondered if they could sell a tape about the incident to TMZ, a web site devoted to celebrity news.

One did – for $15,000, according to Schmidle – and it appeared on TMZ on Feb. 19. But that wasn't the only video from the incident that TMZ purchased.

On Sept. 8, TMZ posted another surveillance video of the incident. Brought for nearly $90,000, the video showed what happened inside the elevator: Rice knocking out Palmer with a left to her head.

The release of the new video put the NFL on its heels, with Goodell forced to field the question: Why hadn't the league's investigation turned up the video? There were reports that it had been sent to the league office in April.
