Quote from: Oklahawg on Today at 12:56:33 pmMore idle, false, conjecture on your part. Confirmed from a separate contact since I posted, in fact. I am not talking about an athletic department guy, I'm talking about money guys who do for OSU what our big-money guys do for UA - they dangle big coin to get guys they think would be beneficial for OSU, and their financial support would be critical in landing. Not to be lost in that equation - a coach they think is "hireable." They aren't chasing Ryan Day or Dabo Sweeney.

That's why I don't share insider information on Hogville.  That, and the fact that I don't have any insider information.   8)

I guess things have changed or whatever. I think it was 1978 or thereabouts, I got pulled over about halfway between Forrest City and Brinkley for doing 105 mph in a 55 zone (Interstate limit at the time). Since it was in excess of 20 mph over, it was in fact; reckless driving. I just paid the trooper on the side of the highway. Something like $125, which was approaching the fine for DWI at the time.

It wasn't any big issue for me. It didn't look like it was for the trooper, either. Could be he pocketed the money. Don't know. But, there wasn't any deal about appearing in court. I suppose I could have, if I wanted to plead not guilty. But, I was caught fair and square. It would probably cost that much to drive from Little Rock back over to whatever county that was just to be found guilty. So, I just paid and called it good.

Like I said, things must be different. One thing of note, it just showed up as speeding and not reckless driving until it rolled off.

It probably has cost KJ way more than just paying the fine, already. Unless, of course; he wasn't given a choice.

Geffrard is barely a year into the UA system. NIL/portal can make that a lifetime, but it is small in terms of the traditional development for OL/DL. He is not, nor was he ever going to be, an immediate impact player. He wouldn't be at UA if that was the case (with the bigger NIL bucks from elite schools locking down the top dozen, or more, DL every year).

Give him the summer to continue working on reconfiguring his body, set a baseline of 3-5 plays at a time, then a series off, and see if he can help. That is a great asset to have if it works.

And, I don't believe your guy.  Probably just being nice and respectful to you and the school you cheer for.

Quote from: arktrav on Today at 12:44:28 pmI played in Hoopfest for most of the '90s. I think we won 2 games -- maybe 3. We put more thought into coming up with team names (Expert Haulers of Big Loads, Celebrated Tractor Drivers, Flying ButtMonkeys, etc.) than any actual aspect of our game.

I believe I hit a whopping 4 baskets during that stretch, 3 of them for 2 (regular FGs counted for a single point) and all but 1 against a squad of Marines who otherwise kicked our posteriors.

Put me in, coach!

My favorite team name of all time was from some friends playing intramurals at Hendrix when I was there. They wore nautical themed jerseys and called themselves the Dribbling Seamen.

Quote from: oldhawg on April 17, 2024, 04:16:08 pmNot really an issue, but I think that I preferred the recruiting news to be part of the primary boards ---- MMQB, Jump Ball, & OmaHOGS-EI.  JMO
I think the logic is that the recruiting stuff can gum up the boards, so it just focuses on the current team (more or less). I like the recruiting boards, because it's a lot easier to sift through things.

Quote from: NoogaHog on Today at 10:43:27 amMaybe we need some off season football players, a la Matt Jones and Robert Brannon. I'd bet Landon Jackson could play, you know, if he wasn't getting ready for the NFL combine and stuff. ;D

Marcus Monk was my favorite football/part time hooper of all time.
