Quote from: 3kgthog on Today at 06:41:11 amI don't know why any coach worth a darn would want to deal with this crap these days. Saban was smart to get out now.

Oh no woe is me I only lasted three years as an SEC coach making $6 million a year. Sign me up and I'll take every headache with a huge smile on my face.

DVH said in swatters club press conference that he's been throwing for a while but isn't throwing enough strikes to get on the mound in games.

They were my pick to win the SBC West, and should still be a solid contender but have taken to many hits on defense to be the favorite at this point IMO.

Unfortunately the down side of the "Process"  Butch has implemented is that it eliminates players that don't buy into it, no matter how talented , and many of the players that have left were reportedly asked to leave.

They will still be a very talented team, and a winning record and bowl game should be the expectation for 2024.

Remember Westlake O-Lineman Juan Gaston :hmmm:

Bulldogs trending for Juan Gaston

by: Hunter Shelton

QuoteStanding at 6-foot-7.5 and weighing in at 345 pounds, Atlanta Westlake four-star interior offensive lineman Juan Gaston is one of the more impressive prospects at his position in the 2025 cycle.

His offer sheet backs that up.

Georgia's amongst that group and has been a fixture.

Steve Wiltfong logged a pick in favor of UGA on Wednesday morning with a 60% confidence level.

Quote from: littlewheezy on Today at 07:54:15 amIf football and/or basketball is spilt off into its own entity, women's sports may completely go away. Title IX says you have to have the same number of scholarships for men and women. If you take the football and basketball scholarships out of the equation, you lose 97 women's scholarships. At some point, smaller schools will stop subsidizing these sports that do nothing but lose money for the school - they simply won't have the money to fund them.

Again, those scholarships cost the schools nearly nothing.

The schools that would be losing those 97 scholarships (i.e. not the FCS or arguably even the G5 schools) could easily just add 97 more mens scholarships to keep things even and continue on with barely an impact to budgets. Now, where those budgets would be impacted are things like coaching salaries, how much staff they can afford to hire, equipment and travel costs, etc... Those things actually cost the school money.

Scholarships* are like disney charging itself 10 bucks for large coke when the actual cost to the company is like 50 cents.

*Athletic scholarships. Obviously it would cost the university to do that campus wide. Athletic scholarships represent like one in a thousand students.

Any news where he is in recovery. I beleive he had the internal brace instead of full TJ. There was talks of him not red shirting and possibly throwing late in year if recovery went well. I haven't heard anything, has anybody?

Quote from: Hog Hog on Today at 08:35:55 amFrom what I've seen, they are pretty similar.  I saw Pryor described as a 6'10" big guard.

Here are there per 40 numbers based on last season:

Pryor:  19.8 points (44.7% FG, 35.2% Three, 81.5% FT), 12 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.8 steals, 2.5 turnovers
Hawkins:  15.3 points (45.1% FG, 36.9% Three, 79.2% FT), 7.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.9 steals, 2.0 turnovers

Watching some video, they look at least comparable in playing style.  I think both are very versatile and able to play multiple spots.

Competition level is so vastly different. Not sure if it's really fair to compare numbers side by side. Hawkins was a top 2 player on an elite 8 team. Havent watched much film on Pryor and would be happy to have him, but from what I have seen it could be an adjustment for him adapting to the speed and physical play of the SEC.

Quote from: Johnnie5 on Today at 09:00:33 amIdk if I would agree with that. They are very similar players. I'd be happy with either,we need another front court player.

Agree.

Quote from: MuskogeeHogFan on April 29, 2024, 08:49:53 amI'm curious about this. Have you any links to these stories or statements from players?
When Pitt first got here he said if you enter the portal, stay in the portal. Not a direct quote but it was something like that.

Year two he reversed that because it was a bad call based on a. Yvonne era of roster management.
