Quote from: KalenTheBoar on May 01, 2024, 03:21:11 pmThoughts on this hire?
Who gives a hoot?  Regardless are we going to sign any players that would be starters on other SEC teams?  Does that mean we will win at least half of the SEC games when, in effect, we are playing reserves against starters?

Quote from: Salty spork on Today at 02:29:37 pmI think that what players are getting right now is completely unknown. I cannot say with any confidence what top players are making.

I also have no idea how much the salary pool would be. Right now, they are living in the wild free world of uncapped salary. 150 million dollar salary pool is possible. But that is in no way guaranteed. It may be indexed off of the poorest schools in the newer division.

How that would be distributed is also up in the air. If it's 150 million/year, is that going to be just passed out evenly? IDK. Athletes will have to union up and negotiate that. I imagine that the vast majority will vote for a flatter distribution structure.

1. We don't know exactly what the NIL pool is, but we can safely assume Ohio St is among the higher paying schools, and we have the number Day threw out.

2. We don't know what exact percentage player would get for salary but again, we can narrow the range pretty well.

NFL gets just shy of 50%. No way college players get more than that, so there's your cap. I also don't see a cba negotiating anything less than 10% so there's your floor. I'd guess somewhere 25-30% is most likely. But that's an educated guess.

3. What's the salary cap? This one seems the most obvious and easiest to predict of them all.

NFL takes the average revenue of all 32 teams and that is what determines the cap.

So, for college, you take the average revenue for each conference and there is you go. Makes no sense for a lower tier conference like the Big 12 to be expected to pay the same as the B1G not does it make sense to restrict a bigger conference like the SEC by the revenue limitations of the sun belt.

Quote from: REBELHOG4 on Today at 08:02:16 pmfeel like we need another really good veteran player

A few roleplayers would be my guess.  Surely there are a few guys in the portal who want to play on a team with a chance to win it all, even if it means no NIL.

2025 TE Hollis Davidson decommits from Auburn

by: Hunter Shelton

QuotePeachtree City (Ga.) Mcintosh three-star tight end Hollis Davidson has decommitted from Auburn, he announced on Monday.

He was pledged to the Tigers since Feb. 6, when he chose them over Miami, Florida, and Florida State.

Gods plan🪬

Davidson is the No. 409 overall prospect and No. 23 TE in the 2025 cycle.

He's also the No. 44 player in Georgia.

Tigers lose member of top-10 recruiting class
The loss of Davidson's pledge leaves Auburn with nine commitments in its 2025 class. The class ranks No. 10 in the nation and No. 5 in the SEC.

Quote from: razorback85 on Today at 02:29:31 pmWe get a kid projected as a first round pick in 2025 and your question is ,"are we going to get any shooters?" lol

What's the old phrase, "you can't fix stupid? I am not saying it applies to "are we going to get any shooters", it just ran across my mind when I read it.
