They don't need to hit .300 to win it but we need get more consistent with timely hitting. They leave way too many on base and in scoring position to continue to be successful. They have won many close games but sooner or later you run out of luck and have a let down.

And that's fine, he just assembled his coaching staff this week. Things don't fall into place overnight. Like someone else said, might want to actually win some games before mouthing off too much. I think people will be surprised, I think Pope will do just fine. We don't expect to be world beaters this first season, he had a total rebuild to do which is what we expected would happen whenever Cal left. It was going to happen some day, that's just the nature of how Cal builds his team.

As for the other guy (ChitownHawg) who said our AD is an idiot, he has made a lot of good hires and a few not so good ones. He's not an idiot though, he had his hands tied a lot on the coaching search. People like you love to mouth off and judge others a lot without knowing that person's full story. You better hope people don't judge you the same way you judge them, we all have our skeletons.

It's very hard to believe that a softball game between two of the dregs of the SEC took away an opportunity to watch two of the VERY BEST collegiat baseball players in the country.

Definitive statements like this crack me up.  Baseball is a funny game. Nothing is this definitive. 

And you do realize that our hitting has taken us to number 2 in the RPI and all the polls, 15-4 in conference, which is first place in the SEC West - and depending on what happens in this extra inning game in KY, maybe tied for 1st place in the SEC (best conference in the county by far) - and a 36-6 overall record, right? As frustrating as our offense has been, it has been good enough to earn all of that when combined with our pitching.
