I wish I could be there to see the Warthogs. These jets are so ugly, they are my all time favorites.....

I'll be looking forward to it.  I have always thought they were cool looking not ugly.

Actually, there was a A-10 flyover at UCA for their homecoming.  One of the pilots was a UCA grad.

TNPIG

Has anyone ever used an A-10 to do a flyover? They might as well use one of our big ass ugly C-5's over here in Memphis.

Are A-10 s pretty loud

ALL jets are loud.  I spent 4 years in the navy in the aviation field and haven't seen an aircraft yet that wasn't ear splitting loud

A-10's kind of sound like flying blenders. But hoghillbilly is right about the guns........
It would be really cool it they were allowed to pop up over the stadium from low altitude. If you have ever witnessed the A-10's flying in exercises, you would be impressed!

A-10's are anything but loud and they aren't jet propelled.  They have turboprop engines that allow them to provide close air support without being detected (heard) prior to firing their 30mm gun.

I happen to know this because I maintained them as a member of the 23rd TAC Fighter Wing (Flying Tigers) at England AFB, LA between 1988-1990.

My primary AFSC was Comm/Nav, but I cut trained into Instrument Autopilot and became Crew Chief qualified as well.  I've participated in Red Flag, NTC and spent a few weeks in Honduras defending them from Nicaragua.  In other words...I know what I'm talking about.

I REALLY hope you didn't mean to say Turbo-Prop..................Please tell me you are kidding ?

Hey I was just Security Forces, but I'm pretty sure there is a difference..........I mean the engine used in the P-51 was a "turbo-prop", I don't remember seeing that type of engine up on the A-10.

I really don't know what this guy's problem is, he comes in pounding his chest like he is the know all of Air Force aircraft.  Then takes a cheap shot at me, so I hit him back with the fact that I fought in a war for my country, then he tries to make me feel stupid (I guess he thought I was still in the military and not making any money) by saying how "rich" he is.  Guy just seems lame to me...I hope he makes alot of money, cause he's not getting friends on personality alone.

I loved the A-10s, we had a few at Eglin (over at the test wing) and we had some cover us in Iraq a few times.

The best memory of them was the day we got turned around on a nav course out near one of the bombing ranges at Eglin and got a up close display of the A-10 cutting loose on the 30mm.  It was breathtaking........no literally it scared me that bad, we didn't see it coming.

hold on there partner....  I spent 9 years as a crew chief on F-16s in the 188th.  Most of what I learned about being a good man, I learned there.  Those guys up there are top notch folks.  I will spare the much of the resume' offering but I own my own business, fulfill my civic duties and am a leader in my church.  I owe those things to God and the fine crew chief brethren of the 188th.

It might be good to slow down on trash talking these guys.  They will just shake their head, pray for you, and go right on keeping doing a fantastic job for about one third of the pay they deserve for people who many times don't appreciate them.
