Onwuzurike, a 3-star prospect, is the teammate of the nation's No. 2 player, offensive tackle Greg Little. Little will take an official visit to UGA.

Notre Dame gets a commit from a major UGA target

Norcross defensive end Robert Beal committed to Notre Dame on Sunday night. He's been favorably compared to UGA standout Lorenzo Carter and was a huge priority for the 2017 class. His father Robert Beal, Sr. said he committed during a phone call to Notre Dame defensive coordinator Brian Van Gorder.

The 4-star defensive tackle from Cedar Grove (Ellenwood, Ga.) told SEC Country on Wednesday that he and teammate Elysee Mbem-Bosse, a 3-star linebacker, have considered the possibility of playing together.

"The schools we've narrowed it down to ... we both have some good schools in common," Jackson told SEC Country.  "I really do consider playing with him at the next level."

Jackson has maintained for some time that Ohio State and Auburn are his leading schools, with UGA and Alabama waiting in the wing. Yet, the only program both have mentioned in their final five is Auburn.

USC's coaching staff continues to recruit hard though the coaches don't know their futures with the program.  About 100 prospects were on hand for the Florida game and more will be in for the the final two games against The Citadel and Clemson.  One of those planning to be in this Saturday is DE Sadarius Hutcherson of Huntingdon, TN.  And a commitment to the Gamecocks is heavy on his mind.

"They are are the top of my list," Hutcherson said.  "I'm kind of committed to South Carolina.  Just say I'm close to committing.  I've got to visit first.  I've talked to them and everything and they are like I am.  They want me to visit first.  I know it's going to be nice.  I heard Columbia is a nice city."

"I'm looking to play in the best conference in the nation," he said.  "I want to learn what position I will be playing, defensive end or tight end.  They say South Carolina is rebuilding.  I don't believe that.  They've been playing in some tough games and they've had a chance to win every one of them.  I'm looking to have some early playing time."

Hutcherson said he's been in touch with USC interim head coach Shawn Elliott and believes he wants him to join the Gamecocks.

"He has told me they would take my commitment," Hutcherson said...

Derrick Brown, a 5-star defensive tackle from Lanier High School, told DawgNation that he will be on campus this weekend taking in the Georgia Southern game.

Last weekend, Brown had a chance to see UGA in a different environment, as he was at Auburn for an unofficial visit. Before this past weekend's game, Brown was at UGA for the Kentucky game. He will take official visits to both UGA and Auburn in January, but Tennessee will have the opportunity to host him for his final official visit the weekend before National Signing Day.

Tashawn Manning, a three-star defensive tackle and Auburn commit, has been diagnosed with cancer... Manning learned of the news last week. He cancelled his official visit to Auburn as a result.

According to Hays, Manning was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia.

6-foot-4, 270-pound senior from Wekiva High School (Apopka, Fla.) was originally slated to enroll early at Auburn. However, Manning's father told Hays that is no longer a possibility...

Julian Rochester, who is the top-rated defensive commit for the Bulldogs in this year's class, reported to Louisville for an official visit on Friday. Why Louisville? The 4-star defensive tackle built a relationship with former UGA defensive coordinator Todd Grantham (now in same role with Louisville), and two of his former teammates from McEachern High School now play for the ACC school.

The other UGA commit on alert is Tyler Clark, the 4-star defensive tackle from Americus. He's on an official visit to Tennessee

After being called a "pure liar" by the mother of the nation's No. 1 overall recruit, new South Carolina coach Will Muschamp made a phone call on Monday.

Muschamp tried to make amends with Jennifer Coney, the mother of 5-star defensive tackle Rashan Gary. Muschamp made an in-home visit with Gary last week, and told the family that he intended to be Auburn's defensive coordinator in future years.
