Hoping for a UCA rally so they come to Fayetteville as our 4. Not looking good, though.

UCA just cut it to 4-2, still batting in the bottom of the 6th. Knocked the Sam Houston starter out, who had been cruising.

By the way, this game is being played at the home of the Atlantic League's (independent) Sugarland Skeeters. Nice looking ballpark for an independent team.

New UCA pitcher getting roughed up a bit. Sam Houston now up 5-2 with 2 on, 1 out in top of 7th.

2 out single brings in 2 more, now 7-2, will be an uphill climb for the Bears.

Sam Houston piling it on now, up 9-2, still batting in the 8th. I was sort of rooting for a second in-state school to make the tourney, but it appears not to be. UCA had a good run making the title game.

Allen Gum is a very good head coach for UCA, but the head coach for Sam Houston is on the DVH coaching tree in Matt Deggs.  He was DVH's assistant both at Northwestern State (along with Rob Childress who is now HC at TAMU) and for his first couple years at Arkansas.  Deggs could use this year to leap into a bigger job; however, Sam Houston is a very solid program.

Game ends 9-4. No NCAA bid for UCA this year, but a good showing in the conference tourney, nonetheless.
