De Paul is where Darious Hall transferred when he left. If that's where Blocker ends up I hope it works out better for him.

Quote from: Hog66 on Today at 12:48:16 pmThe biggest problem I see is that boosters will still find ways to pay for players. It will be off the books and illegal but that's never stopped them before.
If there is still interest, boosters will keep trying to cheat. But that is massively mitigated if we ditch the student athlete bit. The reason we would go that route is to form collective bargaining, which would probably bring some sort of draft. If players are drafted and required to play 2 or 3 years at the draft school, then buying players is limited to later seasons.

It would make the NIL function the way it is intended to function, and it would bring some competitive balance, which the NCAA has never had.

Field of 64 Projections: New host emerges while bubble heats up

by: Jonathan Wagner

QuoteOn the hosting line, we have one new team in the top 16. That would be Mississippi State, who's coming off of a series win over Alabama. They take the place of South Carolina, who was hosting as our No. 11 seed last week.

On the bubble, we have some new faces in a couple of different ways. Most notably, defending national champion LSU has played their way onto the bubble and in our projected Field of 64. The Tigers stunned Texas A&M over the weekend and have now won three weekend series in a row. On the flip side of the bubble, Coastal Carolina has played their way out.

Fayetteville Regional

1. Arkansas (4)
2. Virginia Tech
3. Louisiana Tech
4. New Mexico*

Quote from: thebignasty on Today at 11:42:32 am2-4 puts us at 41-13 and 19-11 in conference.  Even if everyone else around us won out, 41-13 and 19-11 in the SEC would have a very strong case for a top 8 seed.
I am thinking 3-3 these last 2 series.  A&M will have a difficult time hitting Hagen in game one.

Quote from: AugustaHog on Today at 12:39:32 pmI think they are projecting a bit, instead of looking at resumes.  Our resume is outstanding and the pitching numbers are still great.  If they have been astutely observing our team they see a Sunday guy that has faltered the last month, Will McEntire not looking like they guy from Feb/March, and an anemic offense.  If they can get a couple hitters hot and lock Molina/Mc back in, this team is as good as any.  We've been saying that about the offense all year, though, and I'm not seeing signs of that changing.
McEntire seems to play better in the post season so I think he will be back to his old self come regional time.

I agree that the biggest wildcard in all of this is how the fans react to their college teams becoming minor league professional sports teams.

The rent a win games have always been a largely overlooked form of revenue sharing. If that goes away it will certainly impact all of the smaller schools.

I'm not sure they have to go away. Maybe they become exhibitions/preseason contests that allow for some revenue sharing while serving as tune-ups for the regular season.

The biggest problem I see is that boosters will still find ways to pay for players. It will be off the books and illegal but that's never stopped them before.

That seems like an odd fir for them as I thought they were all about the 3 ball.
