What would you do/say/feel if Arkansas players took a knee during the national anthem?

(I am only asking since it seems to be spreading to the college ranks now.)

Karma

I haven't seen a player in college kneel.

Personally, I wouldn't care if a player knelt for the anthem.

Porked Tongue

Arkansas players at home games are not on the field for the national anthem.

I would be OK with a college football player kneeling during the national anthem.  But I wouldn't want to see a Razorback do it.

No one would know since they aren't on the field when the anthem is played.

How'd that work out for the women's basketball team?

I think this question has been asked multiple times on here.

Are there fans who have never attended a Razorback football game?

The team doesn't come out until the band pre-game, national anthem, and alma mater.

This is not an issue.

They got a better coach out of the deal.

Wouldn't be a good look at all.  I never had the chance to serve but I would have.  I have family that did.  There is nothing more special than where we get to live.  Go live in Russia or Mexico for a year. You will STAND for the USA when you get back!!

New Mexico did it vs. Air Force (seems a bit worse to do it when playing a service Academy?):

Others have done it as well:

I don't think there are any fans in the stands to see it either :)

So maybe the question should be, should they be out there during the national anthem?

No.

It would ruin the entire pre game entrance.

I see what you did there. Clever!

Seems like it would be easy to re-jigger.

It's been established that Arkansas players are not on the field and this a non-starter.

General topic like this can be discussed on Politics Board.

Nope.

The entrance should stay the same.

I like the fact that we have players run out with our flags as well:

For those athletes who are prone to "take a knee", it is my fervent wish that they would "take a knee" into a fresh pile of dog poop, - and then slip getting up and fall back into it.

We would not be aware of it, and I hope that continues. When I was a younger man, my father and I did not agree on politics at all. The one thing we both loved was going to Razorback games, and we attended a few NFL games as well. It was the one place where we never had tense political discussions, and some of my favorite memories of my father are the ones we shared at those games. When protests and politics entered the pro game recently, my one thought was "What a jerk move."  I would definitely turn it off just like I did the NFL this season.

Ok, I took your advice and did a topic in the politics forum on it. Not sure if it will get much traction or not.

It's worked fine the way it is has been the 50 plus years I've been attending games.

You do understand that NFL players were not on the field for the national anthem for the entire history of the league until the past 10 years or so when the DOD started paying NFL to require players to be on the field, don't you?
