IIRC, Richard Pitino used to mop up Mashburn, Sr's sweat when he took a bump on the ol' Rupp Arena hardwood.

Auburn guard Lior Berman suffered season-ending ACL injury vs. State

by:
Nick Kosko

QuoteAuburn guard Lior Berman suffered an ACL injury Saturday night and is expected to be out for the rest of the season, according to Auburn Live's Justin Hokanson.

Tigers head coach Bruce Pearl appeared pretty dejected postgame about Berman's injury. In the moment, Auburn lost a key player who rapidly improved throughout the season.

Members of the Tigers training staff rushed to check up on Berman as he grabbed his knee and continued to wince in pain. Berman eventually was helped off the court to a standing ovation as he favored his right knee.

Berman walked on to Auburn's roster in the 2019-20 season and slowly worked his way to a larger role over the past four seasons. Pearl rewarded him by placing him on full scholarship ahead of this season, Berman's fifth with the team.

The 6-foot-4 guard hasn't played a ton of minutes this season, averaging just 6.3 per game. However, the 27 games he has appeared in are more than any other season of his career. He's managed 1.6 points and 1.2 rebounds per game as well.

*Big News* Bill Self rules Kevin McCullar out of NCAA Tournament 👀

QuoteKansas was without two stars during the Big 12 Tournament, seeing Hunter Dickinson and Kevin McCullar deal with injuries. Bill Self wanted to rest both of them in order to have them available for the NCAA Tournament. While Dickinson seems set to return, the news isn't as great for McCullar.

Self ruled McCullar out for the entire NCAA Tournament as he continues to deal with a knee injury. McCullar has not been in the Jayhawks lineup for the majority of the back half of the season, playing in just three games since the middle of February.

"Bill Self said Kevin McCullar Jr. has been ruled out of the NCAA tournament," Jordan Guskey of The Topeka Capital-Journal said via X.

Alabama without guard Davin Cosby in NCAA Tournament due to broken foot

by:
Thomas Goldkamp

QuoteAlabama will be without one of its key backups for the NCAA Tournament, with guard Davin Cosby showing up in Spokane, Wash., with a walking boot on his foot.

Coach Nate Oats confirmed that Cosby suffered a broken foot and will be out for the tournament.

"Davin broke his foot in practice earlier this week, so he's out, so we're not a hundred percent fully healthy," Oats said, according to BOL's Charlie Potter. That's the one injury, and it was unfortunate. I think he stepped on somebody's foot. He continued to practice, but then when we got it X-rayed after practice, it's got a break in one of the bones, so he is out."

Jamal Shead injury update: Kelvin Sampson confirms Houston guard suffered a grade four ankle sprain

by:
Nick Kosko

QuoteMore bad news on Jamal Shead's injury came following Houston's 54-51 loss to Duke in the Sweet 16. Head coach Kelvin Sampson confirmed the guard suffered a grade four ankle sprain.

With the season over, Houston will look at treatment options for Shead. It's expected to be over a month of recovery.

Not to mention it really hurt the Cougars after halftime, who fell just short to the Blue Devils.

"Grade four sprain," Sampson said of Shead postgame. "He is probably going to be out four to six weeks. That was a really tough locker room at halftime.

"It didn't take a lot to convince those kids that we could still win. That's just kind of what we've done all year. We've dealt with this all year. As far as answering your question what did it mean ultimately, he is a first team All American. He is a Big 12 Player of the Year. He's a Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. He's the heart and soul of this team."

As Sampson alluded to, Shead made the engine go that was Houston's basketball team.
