We're always talking about linebackers but nobody seems to be mentioning this guy very often. His senior highlights just came out and I really like the way he plays. He's got a nose for the ball and a knack for making things happen. He's long and moves very fluidly. He lines up at OLB, DE and even CB and looks impressive. Plays with a bit of a mean streak too which I love seeing in a LB. Hopefully he'll be a good one and line up next to Greenlaw in a year or two

I liked his film. he is pretty tall and fast. is in the right place at the right time alot. I really liked Carmouche's film. he really "jumped" off the film. it was very easy to find him without the arrows. I like alexys versatility though.

I agree Carmouche is the prize of the LB commits. I was just bringing Baptiste to light since he gets overlooked. Not really highly rated but has some good offers and his film shows a lot of upside to him. Honestly I really like the three LB commits we've got

Great thread. Kid is a gamer with a 4* offer list. Absolutely blows up those stupid gimmicky WR screens and looks natural lining up a corner. He definitely stays as a LB but should be a real asset at stopping the spread with his coverage skills and nose for the ball.

my favorite part of his film was him destroying those blockers and hitting those WR screens in the backfield. LOVED IT.

That is a very solid offer list. I for one admittedly have overlooked him, but after watching his highlights I see why his offer list is as impressive as it is. Love his motor and he definitely has a mean streak, which you love in your LBs. Very good tackler and he had several big hits in his highlights that I'm sure left a lasting impression on those that were on the receiving end. His versatility is going to be huge for our defense.

Great post jbHogfan!

I will happily take any defensive players offered by Michigan State. That is actually one of the first offers I look for for a defensive recruit.

Dominicanhog

I do like the set of LB's we have coming in this year.. one more would be nice, either Evans or a juco...

WaltonCollege

if he's a linebacker from Florida sign him up. he just looks a little slim. I think Harris and Carmouche play as freshman but Alexy redshirts

secneahog

If you look at his recent interviews, he doesn't look that small. Thick neck.

He looks bigger then Ramsey at this point. Idk who will play. I know we will have some nice young depth there.

Good looking kid.  Got some nasty in him....  Looks like he plays a lot of positions.  I didn't watch the entire reel, but in the highlights I watched I saw him play DE, WR, CB, LB, S, and DT

AugustaHog

I really like all of our LB commits.  They all look like guys who can move pretty well, which is crucial in the era of spread offenses.  You have to be able cover in space.  We are finding that out the hard way this year.  The era of 260 lb. LBs in the SEC is over.  You may still see Bama with the occasional freak of nature, but that won't be the norm.  Look at a guy like Spaight last year.  He wasn't nearly that large.  The guy could really move and became a sound tackler.  That is really the type of guy we should be looking for.  Our model for LBs should be based off what LSU does moreso than Bama.  Both are successful, I just think there are fewer of those monsters that have the wheels to play in space.

Hoggish1

Great tape!  Has huge upside at several possible positions...  One thing I always look for and that is when Michigan State is after the same player — means we have a good one.

Right on!

dhizzle

I like the fact he doesn't let wide receivers do what they want. He literally knocks the piss out of them off the line of scrimmage.

ifghog

I really think Harris should get a shot..he looks like he can play...I know I ma no the coach but boy he looks like a ball hawk!

Paul

I like our list of LB's.  We're building depth

JaketheSnake

I hope/expect to see them all redshirt.  I dont think we will need them for Special Teams either.

Styflin

He is being recruited to play Safety at Arkansas.

"Jean-Baptiste said he has no regrets committing to the Hogs and believes it's the best decision he's made. He and Smith went over his role as an outside linebacker and he sees the chance to lead the team in tackles."

Now that's more like it! Compare that to the day he took over when he said he had 5 guys line up at LB.

Do yourself a favor and look at his Rivals profile...  His role has also been discussed on other boards.

Well do CBB a favor and let him know he only has two LB commits.  Bc he has been thinking he has 3.

His lead recruiter at Arkansas is Vernon Hargreaves, the LB coach...

I'm pretty sure he is being recruited as a will backer

Michael Smith has a personal relationship with White, and is the lead guy in LA.  I guess when he and the DC went over his role as a linebacker, they were just kidding...

Similar to Greenlaw, he will grow into a LB. After watching his video, he simply doesn't have the speed to play SEC safety.

Fair point...  I was relaying what has been said other places and what I have read. His profile in Rivals at one point was LB and has since been changed/updated. Regardless, he is a player I am excited about.

If he does in fact run a 4.48 40, he has enough speed to play wherever they want him. Good lord how fast does he have to be?

That is a big "IF" there. I doubt that is accurate.

It has been discussed on pay boards that he will play safety. If he does he does, if he doesn't he doesn't...   We still need LB commits in this class. Hence why we are scouring the JUCO ranks for one.

Yes, it has been discussed but CBB has wanted 3-4 LBs in this class from the beginning.  The kid himself has said he will be an OLB based on the COACHES talking to him.

All of that stuff from this summer is outdated based on his most recent profiles and interviews.

So, yes, I do know what I am talking about on this particular subject.  You, however, do not.
