yes
no

twistitup

I love cilantro...have been addicted to Mexican food since I was 8, and cilantro is part of that addiction.

I saw this the other day and couldn't disagree more

Libelous.

The only bad thing about cilantro is it doesn't grow fast enough. If it grew like basil I'd eat it every day with peppers and tomatoes. Those I can grow.

People from Arkansas tend to like salsa...I can't imagine it without cilantro
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Yep. LOVE it.
Slow down, son. You'll ride past a lot more good stuff than you'll ever catch up to.

arlhog

I didn't eat much cilantro when I grew up in Arkansas but have lived in PRT (people's republic of texas) for the last 25 years and love the stuff.

Yep. LOVE it.

Does anyone know how to GROW it?  I usually buy two or three small basil plants about now and they grow like crazy. Cilantro just sits there and wilts. It has to be prolific somewhere because it's cheap. Maybe plant a bunch of seeds in a big pot?  My mission this year is to figure this out.

Gotta bring it inside once it gets really hot outside otherwise it'll burn up so bad in the heat that it literally looks like it's been set on fire.

I've only grown it a couple times though. I have a big pot on my back porch that I'll grow basil and cilantro in. I don't claim to be an expert by any means.

I would say it isn't a hate for the herb but a hate for its over use in a dish. It is an herb meant to compliment the other ingredients. Yet, I have dipped into salsa that cilantro is all I could taste.

My mother can't stand it.  She won't eat at a Mexican restaurant, unless she knows they don't use cilantro.  She likes Mexican food, but just not if it contains cilantro.  My siblings and I all love it.

I don't care for it myself but as was mentioned earlier, sometimes dishes contains waaaay too much.  I can handle it in small quantities but can't say I truly like the taste.

I suspect over use is to coverup other cheap ingredients.

Cilantro, parsley, romaine kale chard etc., basically ALL of the green leafy eatable vegetables have the highest
micro nutrient content of any other food.  I'm actually an expert in this field and a properly outfitted salad has about 3 times more protein than the biggest steak in town. Sprouts are your meat in this arena..
I know, sprouts right?  turns out sprouts are the super foods with all the minerals and vitamins to become basically build  "superhumans" without all the joint and body pains later in life . Google vegan athletes.....I think you will be impressed ...

Grow your own (pun intended twist). I gave it a shot when I lived in Lake Village and even though my basil didn't last long the cilantro plant kicked ass. It was totally delish. Makes the best homemade salsa ever.

If you start the seed now and plant it outside in late March and you let it self seed, it will come back forever and be pickable all but the dead of winter and summer.  You will get a lot of coriander (the seeds) out of the bargain too.  I used to have to mow it in early spring if the winter was mild.

Cilantro is what gives salsa a unique taste. If you like salsa it's beyond me how you couldn't like cilantro.

Homemade salsa (which is always better) is usually full of cilantro.
