I'm guessing someone(s) other than BP:

(1) scripted and posted a job description for student-athlete coordinator for football
(2) was aware of JD's being offered a job with UA
(3) wrote the press release about her hiring
(4) posted the press release on arkansasrazorbacks.com

While BP may have hand-picked JD for the position and violated some university policies, it wasn't like all of this happened in a black hole.  Wouldn't JL have signed off on it and, if so, made sure the hiring was on the up and up?

I don't know if the AD would have to sign off on every position on BP's staff. Even if the AD did (which I doubt), he would probably defer to BP's judgment on staffing issues. I suspect Long and the University are now reviewing/researching every staffing hire that BP has been involved with.
