D1baseball named Swanson as its player of the year.  Swanson's batting statistics are no match for Beni's, even after the SEC-T and NCAA.  What's the draw for Swanson other than he was expected to be great going into the season?

Feels like Portis v. WCS all over again!

Recency bias got the best of them which I'm afraid will happen with the Golden Spikes as well.  Swanson didn't even lead his team in BA during SEC play.

The Golden Spikes is probably closer to that, than this is.  That said, if he wins that (which seems unlikely at this point),  why not?

Not really.  Taking a look at the recent Golden Spikes winners, they haven't always been the best players from the best teams.  Bryce Harper won the award when he was in JUCO. 

I think it is clearly a two-man race between Benintendi and Swanson.  Quite frankly, if you go based off of offensive numbers, Benintendi should win the award.  Swanson's postseason has been unreal though.  That's the only thing keeping it close. 

Regardless, they are two great ballplayers who have bright futures and deserve all awards and notoriety that they have received to date.

Kendall Rogers has a love affair with Dansby.  I don't want to diminish how good he is but I feel like it's a slap in AB's face.  The kid won the best player of SEC but d1 votes another SEC player ahead of him for national player of the year.  Just a scam in my book.
