I am going with Florida v Vandy in the finals.

razorbackfan86

There are some powerhouse programs in this year. Should be a good tournament.

This is the most impressive field at the #CWS in years. 13 players selected in the first two rounds, power programs across the board.

Kyle Peterson ‏@KP_Omaha  · 11h11 hours ago
All four finalists for the @USAGoldenSpikes will be in #Omaha plus the nation's HR/RBI leader in @CanesBaseball star David Thompson

Kyle Peterson ‏@KP_Omaha  · 11h11 hours ago
Last year, Benintendi and Thompson combined to hit one HR all year.  They led the country with 19 each this year.  Expect more HR's at TD.

Kyle Peterson ‏@KP_Omaha  · 10h10 hours ago
I would expect double digit HR's this year in Omaha. Power arms, real power bats.  Good combo for the fans.

Kyle Peterson ‏@KP_Omaha  · 10h10 hours ago
2 of the top 3 freshman in the country in Omaha this year too.  JJ Schwarz and Alex Lange lead the charge for the youngsters.

Just sharing a little CWS trivia gleaned from the official NCAA website -
    http://www.ncaa.com/2015-college-baseball-tournament-statistics

CWS Appearances
                     LAST
Miami        24   2008
Cal St Ful  17   2009
LSU          17   2013
Florida       9    2012
Arkansas    8    2012
Virginia      4    2014
TCU          2    2014
Vandy       2    2014

Pretty good teams' breakdown over there, as well.

CWS press release from ESPN
http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-releases/2015/06/new-cameras-technology-highlight-espns-36th-college-world-series/

This a must-read for numerous reasons, but these two excerpts really caught my eye:

  • A SEC team that finished fifth or lower in the conference will play in the College World Series for the third straight season. Arkansas will represent the conference this year with the previous two – Vanderbilt in 2014 and Mississippi State in 2013 – reached the College World Series Finals.

  • The field includes an SEC team for the 23rd consecutive event and one from the ACC for the 10th.

ESPNU re-airs have been scheduled during the upcoming week for every game but this one and Miami vs Florida.  Since I have been monitoring the gradual roll-out of the re-airs, my strong guess is today's games will not be replayed at all.

I simply don't get it.

Anyway, I have posted the entire ESPNU re-air schedule ^^ above ^^.

GatorHog

UF in a little bit of a jam early, Miami with 2 on 0 out

BroyledNutts

How many hits in a row did FLA lay on Miami? 7? 8?

Good grief Charlie Brown...Gators keep playing that way it won't matter who's in the other bracket.

Anybody else notice how well Florida is hitting the away pitches?

ucahogfan

Schwarz has to be the big favorite to win the Golden Spikes Award next year.  Just crazy the numbers he is putting up as a true freshman.

razCzar

So, what does everybody/uca know about our Monday opponent? ;D

Great offense.  Ok pitching and defense.

Against average pitching, they are potent.  They annihilated my second favorite team Georgia Tech 42 runs to 5 (at Tech) the last series of the season.  Kind of shocking really, since Jackets were not that bad... till then.

Just got to Omaha about an hour ago. We're at the LSU/TCU game (my better half is an LSU alumna).

It is loud as hell in here. I hope we fill this place up for the Hogs tomorrow.

So.. Why is LSU throwing Poche?

9-1, their Friday night starter, and had two gems in the regional and Super. However, he is capable of very bad outings.

If Poche could've gotten LSU a win in game 1, the Tigers would have the big guns still available to win games 2 & 3...SOP for Paul Mainieri in tournament play.

I can't believe this LSU performance in the CWS. Have any of TCU's 6 runs been earned?  The first two to score reached base after the pitcher threw away easy ground balls.  Third run scored when the third baseman booted a ground ball. Fourth run scored on a bases loaded HBP.

Questionable base running there.

Likely to be some tiger mauling tonight in Omaha if they keep that up

BroyledNutts

I'm just glad to see we're not the only team to have a rough first game...thx to Miami and LSU - in fact, we may have had the better outing of the 3 losers so far; at least we didn't get blown out.

TNhawgfan

I would rather see any of the other teams in the field win it than LSU

This LSU game is awesome. I'm having a great time watching this

Losing gracefully isn't taught in second-tier programs. See Arkansas, Cincinnati, et al.

TCU's got a great story going after that epic series with A&M, and coming back to win two games against NC State, the deciding game 9-8 in ten innings.  Now pounding LSU, poor tiggers

Wonder what excuse Tiger Bait will offer up on Bo's show tomorrow?
