Kinda nice to see some improvement in the quality of teams we're beating out for recruits.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

it's nice to have so many even before the season starts

I have added a rivals rating, the date they committed, and the coach that was recruiting the prospect to the information above. It is very interesting to see how much of an impact David Lee is having on the recruiting trail.

David Bergendahl

This list an absolute splendid thing. It is quite hard not to be chipper about so many early commitments. +1 for the work.

Who is Mark Murkuson?  And where did the "recruited by" information come from?

Rivals & Scout both show the "recruited by" column I believe.

Is David Lee a good recruiter?  I have not heard much about his recruiting ability, but from the looks of things he isn't doing bad at all.

DL is doing a great job of recruiting. That is probably the most value he has added to this coaching staff. The fact that he can tell a recruit he had a hand in the development of Tony Romo is huge. Anytime a coach has NFL experience it helps, but with the media frenzy of Romo right now, it sure has helped. He has really opened the door in Warren. He has also done a great job in Camden (I think we get Lavunce this weekend), and was the first school to offer D'Anton Lynn. He has an eye for talent, and I think he is much better suited for this position than he was the last time around.

I got some information (coaches, stats, size, speed, offers, rankings) from Rivals and some from Scout.

doublep

I took some of this info, and created a map of recruits (much like the one Alabama has). It is located at http://www.communitywalk.com/arkansas/2008_arkansas_football_commitments/map/144896

jbhicks

This is great doublep. Thanks a lot. +1

Shizzle

Nice read +1 I am starting to like this class. If we could land Adams and a couple more big names this will be a very respectable class.

Great job guys. No one from Texas. I hope that changes soon.

This newfangled map feature is quite the tool. +1 to you for the expertise of building it. We have so many excellent members that contribute so much. Again, jbhicks this list is excellent. All these lads sound like they can contribute to the success of Razorback football. Woo Pig!

Littlehog AR

I will tell you what....I watched the video of Cruz Williams and he does remind me ALOT of one Mr. Monk. He was a VERY quality pick up.

I think that his star rating will move up alot by the end of the year.  :razorback:

Conway Cool Daddy

Looks like a nice class so far.

Just added Jarious to the list. Should be adding several more between now and August 1.

doublep

He's been added to the map as well.

The best players from instate and players from places Arkansas doesn't usually get too many players from (a Kansas prep school, Warren, Lousiana, and Florida).

Sorry, but it sure doesn't seem like Houston is recruiting like a man on the way out . . . . .

That what pops out at ya is how great of a job David Lee is doing on the recruiting trail.

An offensive player has been known to decommit based on what he saw in watching our games.

What offensive player has decommited "based on what he saw in watching our games"?  Be specific

And keep in mind Dee Williams COMMITED to Arkansas in February 07 (Feb 11th to be exact, 4 days after national signing day).  Needless to say that is after watching all our games and after Gus was gone.

+1. Nice job and keep up the good work.

The Coletrain

Obviously Coach Lee is doing a fabulous job this year.  But I tell you what, Chris Vaughn is getting it done for us!!  I don't care what he does on the field, off the field Vaughn is making some great in-roads with our out-of-staters.  He's earning his place at the table with what he's doing on the phones, on the recruiting trail, and in the living rooms.

And thanks to you, JB, for putting in the effort to make this info so easily attainable for the rest of us.  +1

I am a Hog fan. I was long before my name was etched, twice, on the sidewalks on the Hill. I will be long after Sam Pittman and Eric Mussleman are coaches, and Hunter Yuracheck is AD. I am a Hog fan when we win, when we lose and when we don't play. I love hearing the UA band play the National Anthem on game day, but I sing along to the Alma Mater. Wow that is great.  +1  I wonder if we could make one for guys we are recruiting.  That'd be cool to be able to click on a name and see his interest level, other offers, visit date, etc.
Where did the Stickied Thread go?  I no longer see it.
