I like it. Thursday night spotlight and a few extra days to prepare for TCU.

Cue the GSD and the Little Rock Haters in 3......2........1.......

JL texted me and said the Thursday game is a test to see if they should extend the WMS contract for 54 more years.

His words, not mine. Don't shoot the messenger.

Well, I guess he forgot me in this group text, I'm cutting back on my donation.

ricepig

It also frees up the whole Labor Day weekend, nice.

Hawgphish

Personally, I don't mind it at all.  But I know the folks in eastern and southern Arkansas may not get to make the trip now.  I am wondering how it will affect attendance.

I don't blame you. I paid tuition to go to school there and I don't feel like I'm getting a satisfactory ROI from the athletic department. I'm livid.

No matter which side of the Gsd you are on on. This is a slap in the face to the fans who can't make it up to fayetVille and wanted to enjoy these last 2 little rock games before they are gone

ErieHog

Half our remaining burden disappearing on a Thursday night?  Sounds good.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

You haven't been paying attention. They haven't been going anyway.

Looks like a win-win to me, Thursday night football game and a long weekend.

Mr. Porkleone

Talk about sticking it to LR. Work and no time for tailgate. Last game ever at LR

Professor Psychosis

Don't we get to start fall camp 2 days earlier now since the game's 2 days earlier?

FANONTHEHILL

I'm in Fayetteville. I would be there on Saturday.  Now I'll be there on Thursday.  The Thursday night games are a great showcase the program. Although I'm on the record as saying that all games should be on campus, I don't think this is a slight to WMS or Little Rock.  It's a special event on opening weekend.  Night games in LR are special.

So we killed the tailgating in LR and expect a family to be able to travel to the game then work and school the next day ?  :puke: :puke:

There should be 50,000 in Central Arkansas alone to cover this.

Wildhog

Much better TV situation. I love the move.

There will be 10 of my crew there.  3 from NWA, 2 from Hot Springs, 5 from Dallas (Richardson).

The game is a long ways from today.  People can start planning now.

Maybe we didn't want to play the game with a bunch of drunks on the road for the holiday weekend.

I like it.  Gives us an couple extra days to prepare for TCU.

It wouldn't surprise me that after the past couple of years, they make this game  without a donation. I think those who have donated for their seats in LR be given first shot, but let's forget the donation for the game. I doubt they go this way, but it would be nice.

I'm a fan..,

1. Prime time when people are dying for football...any football

2. More days to prep for TCU and coach/team can watch TCU live.

3. Two less days to wait for my hogs.

Way too much logic in that........now try again!

One of the best times I ever had at a Hog game was in 2003 when the Hogs played South Carolina on a Thursday night. I'm planning on going to this one as well. I like the move to Thursday.

I am a huge fan and supporter, but it sure will suck if I am forced to buy tickets for a game I already know I can't attend

The LR games aren't in the same season ticket package as the Fayetteville games.

If they are required in season packages = forced

I'm not following.  I've never been forced to buy Little Rock tickets in my season package.

Are you a Little Rock/WMS donor?

I usually buy my tickets from the RF in bunches after the WMS donors get their allotment.

I buy through the foundation, always buy all including LR. I'm trying to find out are we required to buy L R tickets when we buy season tickets. Or are they optional ?

I don't think I would be considered a WMS donor ? I make my donation to the foundation then purchase tickets.

Ok.  Far as I know they are optional. I've never had them included in my season package.....always bought after.

Just to make sure call the office and check.  Tell them your situation and everything will get worked out.

Even if they were (they weren't 3 years ago, maybe they stopped NWA vs LR pkgs) you're still not forced to buy anything. Also nothing remarkable about it. NFL season ticket buyers have to pay for 2 preseason games.

This.

Now, there are people who have to work. However, the game doesn't start until 7. If you live in the LR area, you don't even need to take off work whatsoever. If you live in conway, maybe try to leave 30 min early. Otherwise, you have 6 months to schedule a half a day off work in advance. The number of people who would be unable to do that is going to be smaller than the number of increased eyeballs watching this game on tele with it being the first thursday of the season rather than on saturday .

There was always two different season packages, LR and Fayetteville. You won't be required to buy either, to have the other.

Is this the last time ever the Hogs have to play in stinking Little Rock?

Great to get the Thursday night game IF we can pull out a win.

Great to get the Thursday night game IF we can pull out a win.

12-15 years ago, Arkansas had a stretch of several consecutive seasons where we played Thursday night games on ESPN/ESPN2. Up until that time, the Thursday night slots had been filled with mid-majors. The exposure and positive ratings caused most everyone else to re-think their stance on playing a game on Thursday night.

So once again, as with our Thanksgiving Friday game with LSU, something fairly unique to the Hogs was shuffled around and any perceived niche we may have had went by the wayside.

I like the idea. The opponent?...eh, OK. But I understand we're pretty limited after Michigan bailed on us.

I expect this game played on Saturday would be an afterthought Nationally, played on Thursday, will be seen by many dying for football, any football.  This could be an opportunity to showdog this new 5th year team.  If we have a GREAT game, this is a plus for the program.  If we limp in, barely winning or, for God's sake, lose, this serves to kill the program.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we come out smoking, looking conditioned, trained, mentally prepared go up by 35 or 40 points by the half and the reserves get to come in, play as if the win depended on it, not just run out the clock and maybe the second team QB even get to throw a few passes, maybe even get to play with the starters a series or two.

Love the move. First SEC football game of the year. Not jammed in a packed Saturday of football. Good showcase for the program.

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

Great for TV. Not so great for those that were planning on going all out tailgating the last LR game. I'm old enough to not care about that so I don't mind. Going to be a lot of angry millennials though.

If we lose EVERYONE will see it. Could really kill our season.
