The Old man keeps the Spurs in the Playoffs and Thursday night they got at shot to send the Clippers packing and Face Houston in the next round.
If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

Unbelievable player and teammate. Best organization in professional sports.

He could sign for 3 years at the minimum, have the Spurs bring in big-time PF, play exclusively Center for about 20-25 minutes a game during the regular season, and bump that up in the post season.

Play about 65-70 games in the regular season, and he could still be a formidable force. His game does not rely on athleticism. His size and fundamentals takes care of that. His health is all that could hold him back from playing another 3-5 years.

I expect to see him at least 3 more years.

And just got Lamarcus Aldridge to carry the load.

Great move again by the best franchise in professional sports.

Now they've got to fill the rest of that roster.

Tim has given back more money to the Spurs to allow them to go get younger talent than anyone I think we will ever see.  I have to believe they are going to take care of him for a long time whether thats on the court or the front office.

It really is nice to see.

^^^  exactly  Karma is bitch    just as Kobe and the Lakers whose big signing was Roy Hibbert  and Robert Upshaw who is 7' 2" tall and kicked out of 2 colleges.  Russell and Randle our their future and when Kobe is gone with that big contract you will see some more FA signings

I was thinking about Duncan a few days before this thread went up, thinking that for the guy that is perhaps the greatest PF to ever play the game, he sure doesn't seem to get as much credit as some of the flashier guys. So I was really glad to see this thread pop up.

I really wanted Portis to end up with the Spurs so he could learn from Duncan. All I know is the guy is easily one of my favorite players of all time, and he's been nothing but class since he's been in the NBA. We need more guys like him out there.

he is the best in my book    followed by Malone and McHale in either order

Yeah I go back and forth between him and Malone, but in truth Tim Duncan is the best PF to ever play the game. It's just always made me wonder why, when people talk about the Greatest of all Time, they never really throw out Duncan's name. It's always Magic, Jordan, Bird, Kobe, Lebron, etc. IMO he belongs in that conversation because of his consistency and the fact that you can never count the Spurs out. So what if he didn't win all his titles in repeat/threepeat fashion, to me that just shows how solid he has been over the course of his career.

He's arguably one of the five best players of all time.    The  Spurs were essentially two possessions short of having had a realistic shot at winning 5 titles in a row.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Yeah, I'm with you, man. I agree that he's up there, which is why I don't understand why he never gets any love in the GOAT conversation.

In Duncan related humor, check out his inclusion in the  'Mark Cuban Inbox' from Grantland.
