Man, it's hard not to love this Bonfield kid. Dude's a stud, and straight repping our program. I hope he comes, but even if he doesn't, having a top notch recruit like this hype your program like this can only mean good things.

Looks like we can add Matt Campbell and Max hogan to the 2014 class. Both are JC MI. Campbell is an UNC transfer and hogan a Dallas baptist transfer.

ucahogfan

Campbell and Hogan have been added to the commitment list.

PG is also reporting that we have picked up a commitment from Washington State SS Blake Jones.

I think we stand a good chance of getting McKinney to campus because he can be a 2 way stud in college while he wouldn't have that chance in the pros.

Bonfield has split opinions on him.  He is the #11 player in the nation by one guy and isn't even in the top 100 high schoolers by BA.  One thing for certain is that he just flat out hits.

It would be awesome to get everyone to campus, but there is about a .01% chance that happens.

The Hogs picked up their 9th commitment for the 2015 class in the last couple of days in Fayetteville High C Grant Koch.  That gives Fayetteville 4 current baseball players committed to SEC schools with 3 of them being just juniors in high school and having 2 more years to play.  Has there ever been another high school team in Arkansas like that?

Koch looks like he is a solid pick up behind the plate.  He recently graded out at 9 at a PG event which makes him a potential top 10 round pick.

Big Nasty 34

I would think some of the pine  bluff teams in the 90s. Hunter and Shabazz were drafted in the first and third rounds when they came out. Other players played college ball too. Great talent!

Yeah, but were at least 6 players SEC level in a sport?  I don't doubt PB had some excellent teams, but that 2013 Fayetteville title team will probably go down as the most talented in SEC history.  Just in terms of players signed/committed to SEC schools you have:

Austin Allen (4 star QB)
Carson Shaddy (high school GG behind the plate and current Razorback C)
Kyle Pate (2014 signee who went to the Area Code Games)
Drew Tyler (2015 SS commitment)
Grant Koch (2015 C/OF commitment)
Andy Pagnozzi (2015 RHP Ole Miss commitment)

And who knows if there aren't more players who will be added to that list.  Cody Davenport is a 2015 RHP who has picked up a D-1 offer although I don't know who from.  The type of SEC talent that plays for Fayetteville right now is very rare and probably does not have a similar situation in the nation.  It is a huge help for our program to have such a stacked high school team half a mile down the road.

Davenport is committed to UCA.
Thanks!  It seems like UCA is gaining steam under Gum and are on the path to become the 2nd best program in-state as long as Gum stays.

When I saw on his PG profile that he had topped out at 88 and was under 6-3, I thought UCA or some program like that would be an excellent fit for him.  Still impressive that a #3 pitcher at best on a Arkansas high school team is still talented enough to go play D-1 ball.

I think the only reason he doesn't have more interest is he seemed to have an aliment when FHS played in front of college coaches. He threw well in Conway.

That's rough for him, but he is only a junior so he does have some more time to get noticed.  Hope all goes well for him and already has a good situation with UCA.

Good Day Guys,

Had the opportunity see Jaxon Williams during a Showcase this past weekend. He even had an outing on the mound where he was up to 85...But, he is a MIF all the way..Just showing his versatility..

Louisville Slugger released their Preseason AA teams recently and several signees made the list:

Jonah Patten - 1st Team RHP
Keaton McKinney - 1st Team Multiposition (RHP/1B)
Kyle Pate - 1st Team Multiposition (LHP/OF)
Sam Hentges - 1st Team Multiposition (LHP/1B)

No other signees made the 1st team list or the honorable mention team that I saw.

Other names of interest:

Trevor Ezell - 1st Team SS (from Bryant, SEMO baseball signee)
Gavin LaValley - 1st Team 1B/3B (former commit, OU signee, assume he was replaced by Hentges)
Drew Ward - 1st Team SS (graduated 1 year early in 2013, currently in the Nationals organization)
Andy Pagnozzi - Honorable Mention RHP (Ole Miss commit, 2nd Fayetteville High pitcher on the list)

A couple of updates:

-  Luke Bonfield has been named as one of the 3 OFs for the all-Florida team and was named as the best hitter for average in the state.  Would be HUGE if he made it to campus.

http://www.perfectgame.org/articles/View.aspx?article=9372

-  Article from PG about how baseball players from the Northeast such as Luke Bonfield transfer down to schools in Florida to improve their skills.  This is very similar to elite high school basketball teams such as Findlay Prep and Huntington Prep.

http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=9413

-  Keaton McKinney was named the top prospect at the PG Pitcher/Catcher Indoor Showcase.  He is drawing a ton of interest from pro teams as a pitcher, but could be a 2 way player if he makes it to Arkansas because of his power at the plate.  3 players from Arkansas were named top prospects in the 2015 class.

Probably no similar in the nation?  Hahahahah... Come to South Texas.  Fayetteville couldn't make it out of a respectable district in 5A in Houston where ther could be 6-8 D1 commits per team......  Com'on man!

Ivey to A&M huh? Hmmm.
Yep, doesn't surprise me at all.  Johnny Football is his favorite player and liked him more than the school he had committed to.

hawgcraZ

He wasn't making it to campus anyway

So, should we look for him to change his commit to the Oakland or Cleveland area should Johnny get drafted there??

The Razorbacks picked up their 9th commitment in the 2015 class from Missouri LHP Jacob Schlesener.  Looks to be a LHP who is quickly improving and a solid pickup for the Hogs.

In other recruiting news, here is an article about Jack Benninghoff who I think is Tyler Spoon's replacement in RF.

http://collegebaseballcentral.com/razorback-commit-jack-benninghoff-preparing-play-sec/1625/

Keith Grieshaber won the Missouri Gatorade Soccer POTY.  Have us a heck of an athlete who could find himself starting in the MIF next year should he make it to campus.  Was good enough to pick up big time offers in both baseball and soccer and should really get better when he focuses only on baseball.

PG released the Great Plaines Preview and 2 signees made the list.

-  Jack Benninghoff made the team as one of the 3 OFs with his plus arm and tools at the plate that should let him hit for a high average with power.

-  Keaton McKinney finds himself pretty much all over the list.  He is the top pitcher in the region.  He was named the pitcher with the best offspeed (present plus change and nice curve) and also the pitcher with the best command.  He was also an honorable mention in the best power category which is one of the reasons why I think we stand a good chance at getting him to campus.  Kinda sounds like he profiles similar to Eibner in that he is a beyond talented pitcher with a lot of power in his bat.  Another thing working in our favor is that he would have to leave his high school team early if he did sign with a MLB team.

Do we know if any of these guys really want to go to college (like Stanek)?  Or do any of them have asking prices that make them unlikely to sign outside the first round or two?

If not, June could hurt.

I would hope most of them have 500K+ numbers and will hold firm to them.  We do have a couple of players who are extreme draft risks IMO (McKinney and Bonfield), but I could easily see both making it to campus.  McKinney has really improved as a P, but DVH should be selling him on being able to play both ways in college like Eibner.  Bonfield flat out mashes, but from what I have gathered with him, it is more about the round he is taken in and not the money.  He is also one of the players in his class where his rankings widely vary.  One independent guy has him ranked #11 in his rankings because of his hit tool which has been talked about being 70 while PG has him in the 50s while BA doesn't have him in the top 100.

Luke Bonfield is participating with his current team IMG Academy at the PG Showdown and has done well.  He has made the notes in both days and his game will be shown live starting any time now.

On day 1, he didn't really have an impact at the plate, but showed well defensively.

http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=9693

On day 2, he showed why he is one of the best hitters in the class as he consistently squared the ball up for a 3 hit performance.

Like I said above, Bonfield is one of those players who people vary widely on how he is as a player.  I think there is a 20% chance he makes it to campus because it is about time the Hogs catch a break and get an elite hitter to campus for once.  If he were to make it to campus, he would be the 3 hole hitter from day 1.  He could be anywhere from a 1st round pick to not going at all.  Just have to wait and see in June.

The Hogs pick up a commitment from JUCO RHP Cannon Chadwick out of Paris, Texas.  Really can't find much about him, but seems to be a pick up and has some pretty good size to be a Colby Suggs type.  He will be a Sophomore in the fall.
