And today, that word is used to describe radical left-wing liberals who don't want their fragile feelings to be hurt, especially when they aren't in their "safe spaces".  ::)
which had nothing to do with what I said at all. Seems the 1%ers are the ones needed a safe space.

And no country on Earth has worse income disparity than here. But, keep promoting your capitalistic pig society and see how badly it ends for us all. (not really meant for  you redleg)

Badass! Gonna look goooood. That gap still makes me itch, but it still looks darn good. Very modern, clean.

The design of the stairs between the NEZ and West Stands is nice, didn't know that was there. Wouldn't mind it closed in either. I don't like other stadiums that do a corkscrew there.

That front cascade will look awesome at our next Gameday too! Almost a perfect setup for it with the window in as well.
Success isn't permanent and failure isn't fatal.

Everybody in this country has a TV. Everybody has a cell phone. You have to try to be homeless in this country. Have you been to Central America?

We are are worse than all the other first world countries though.

Income inequality is overall a good thing. But like most everything in life, too much is a bad thing as is too little. It's not that we need to get rid of it, but the disparity is higher than it should be.

The 2nd big importance here is income mobility. What are the likelihoods of being able to improve your stock in life?

Pretty obvious where you don't want to be as far as income mobility. ND is so high due to the recent shale boom. Give it another 10-20 years and it will be back to yellow or so. Most of the country is about a 10-15% ability to move from the bottom fifth as a child to the top 5th by age 45.

Can't find a good map for the world for income mobility. There was a cool map of GDP per km which really showed how important the coast and waterways are.

Yeah, if only the federal government would just go in and take money from those a little and a lot well off and give it to those who aren't. Equal things out....

Wait.... Hasn't that been tried already and failed?

majestic

Yep. So we need to increase taxes in the republican states to make up for it.

It has been tried already and was a great success. Look at the economic growth and unemployment rates over decades as well as the tax rates and wages over decades.

You'll find that our economy has done much better overall when taxes, particularly the highest bracket were higher and has slumped of when rates were lower. That alone is just correlation and not causation.

However, when wages are high and people have money to spend, that is going to stimulate a lot more economic growth than the reverse where businesses have ample resources to expand and grow, but there is no market demand for them to do so. The people are spending, the more resources businesses have to buy to keep up with demand, the more people they have to hire to keep up with demand, the more likelihood of a new company being able to get started. Only taking home 600k after making a million a year isn't going to keep somebody from starting a new business nearly as much as not having enough people able to spend money to generate revenue and fearing for your livelihood when your business fails as most new businesses do. People are a lot more likely to take a leap of faith when there is a safety net below them that they trust.

No need to dream when facts and history are on my side. Communism is bad. Fascism is right wing politics, not left.

Too much socialism has been proven to not work. Too much capitalism has been proven to not work. We need a healthy balance of the two. Enough capitalism to encourage people to push forward. Enough socialism to keep people from falling too far behind. Big difference is that most  capitalists like parts of socialism, but have convinced themselves it isn't socialism. Unless you are a laissez-faire free marketeer, then any regulation is by definition socialism. Giving government control of that aspect of private enterprise/market. Every worker safety law, every publicly funded library, road, police force, etc... is a small piece of socialism which a lot of people bend over backwards to convince themselves it isn't. I don't see as pervasively on the other side. Sure, there's your die hard socialists that think capitalism is a dirty word but the vast, vast majority do not. Heck, most socialists that I know as well as most politicians labeled as socialists still favor a predominantly capitalistic society, just one that is fractionally more socialistic than we currently are. Even if Bernie Sanders was dictator and could change the US however he wanted, his socialistic vision of the US is still predominantly capitalistic. Contrast that with most politicians who are self-avowed capitalists and ask them how much socialism they think is good for the country and I bet you get 0% from most, until you ask them about specifics at which point they will agree to a lot of socialist stuff, they just refuse to call it that.

A practical one and not an idealistic one. Look where things work have worked before, where things have gone wrong, and strive to set up a system that yields optimal results overall. You'll never gain an inch if you don't progress and move forward. Move forward too fast and your wings will burn up in the sun. Can't let conservatives stagnate the country, can't let progressives fly too close to the sun.
