Just curious if anyone has seen or heard from Coach Morris lately? Are they busy getting settled in to their new digs? Been rather quiet. Any word on Spring practice?

From my understanding, his son will still attend Highland Park, I don't know what that entails for a family move. I suspect we'll see him in front of some cameras tomorrow???

I see. I was just wondering. Been pretty quiet. I'm anxious to hear more from him & staff.

Well, that was info from HP people after the state championship games, like everything, I'm sure it's subject to change and "sources".

Doubtful, he would be candidate to be the starting QB wherever he goes, so you would think he would want to go through spring practice.

I hope you are correct. But reading here the last few days something has bothered me about what another poster said. It was said that he has a wandering eye and is always looking for the next job. (this was something told to one of our HV regulars from a Clemson insider) If you look at his history his longest stay was 5 years in one place. If he POSSIBLY doesn't move his family here that would be raising a red flag for me.

Wonder what his wondering eye wonders about.

Who cares?

At the end of 5 years, it is much more likely that you will want to fire him than it is that he will be jumping ship.

If he does well enough here that top programs start calling on him, then he will have done his job here.  We need someone to get us winning again.

We generally don't have coaches stay past 5 years, I'll worry about that at the time. He'll either have us in good shape by then, or we'll be ready to punt him done the road.

Actually Morris was at Clemson 2011-2014 (4 not 5 years) and interviewed for the Texas Tech job in 2012.
The comment "top programs will be calling him" would mean that Arkansas is STILL not a top program.
Finally HVers  sole derogatory comments pertaining to Petrino and Kiffin is they won't be here long, now I see them justifying 'short-timers'!!!

His son is about to be a senior. Military families do this a lot when they have a kid who is about to graduate. It makes sense for a lot of reasons, and even more if the kid is the starting-QB-in-waiting at a good HS football program.

I wouldn't read too much into what a "poster" has to say about the matter. We've seen how credible they are. Besides, why worry about 5 years from now? It's either going to work out and he'll want to stay or it won't and we'll ask him to go. No big whoop.

You are partially correct. His son was a sophmore this last year and backed up Jerrys Grand son. Chandler will be the starter next year and will be staying at HP in Dallas. HP is a great school and the kid wants to stay and compete with his friends. I dont blame him one bit for not moving his family to Fayetteville. Hopefully in 2 years we will see his son on the hill, Kid is the real deal at qb.

Couple of things, his son is going to be a Jr. not a SR. I think I am right on this but will stand corrected if not. Second this poster is pretty reliable and he was "told" this by a Clemson insider (take it as you will). And third in this answer I want someone who is gonna move our program back to prominence on the national stage and keep it there. I tire of the coaching searches every 4 to 5 years. Just shows that this is not a top tier program.

So this tells me he is not all in. This could come back to bite him here. I agree it is a great school and I also understand wanting to stay and play with your friends. If that was the case why didn't CCM just stay at SMU?

LawyerHog50

If the family wants to wait another year that's fine. CCM likes helicopters and can probably get to DFW pretty fast if he wants to. Besides, this lets him focus on his job more at least this first year.

As for job hopping, there are not that many upgrades from Arkansas if CCM wins big here. If he wins 9 or less the bigger programs won't want him. If he wins 10-2 or 11-1, he is likely in the playoff and no offer would justify starting over elsewhere.

And it's a 40 min charter flight from Love field to Drake...and his Dad will have the $ for the kid to be in Fayetteville anytime he wants.

This is also healthier for the Fayetteville hs football program (he won't be accused of preferential treatment if he came in and won the qb job)

Fayetteville had a down year under 1st year coach, so don't think preferential treatment would be the worst thing. That being said the Fayetteville QB Darius Bowers is an athlete, and isn't the reason that team lost games. If Morris was to come in and win the job, I'm sure that Bowers could be used elsewhere.  But I also think that is probably factoring in to his decision to maybe stay in Highland Park.

This is the truest statement on HV today.  Dude could go 13-1, lose in the national semifinal by a 58-57 final, and some folks on here would be griping about some offensive mistakes being the reason we lost.  But I'd still rather be in this asylum with you guys than be on NAFOOM or some Aubie board.   ;D

Listening to an interview with Morris it sounded like the kid was going to finish this school year in Dallas.  Not his entire high school career.  And I agree that would be a bad visual if the wife and kid stayed in Dallas.

Dude. Chill.

Why should he chill when he's right?? When a head Coach takes a job at a University, moving his family to the area where he is coaching shows his commitment to the University.

Frank Broyles showed his commitment to Arkansas by moving his family to NWA and was offered other jobs but turned them down because he only wanted the Arkansas job.

Bobby Petrino showed his commitment to the U of A by moving his family to NWA and asking for an 11 million dollar buyout to prove his intent to stay and not consider another job..

Especially when his family is a 30 minute plane flight away.

This is so danged trivial and asinine that it's ridiculous. His kid is a solid QB at a state-championship winning high school in Texas.

What I said is true. Moving his family to NWA with him shows his commitment to the U of A. The U of A head coach should be totally committed to the University. If he's not willing to make that commitment then that raises multitudes of red flags. That commitment should be required as part of his contract.

Okay, let's put this situation into the real world and out of the paranoia and unrealistic standards that accompany the coaching staff at the U of A.  How many of us know someone in any other profession that have waited to let a child finish the academic year at the school they are currently attending before uprooting them and moving them to the new place.  Right off hand, I know a preacher, principal, school superintendent, insurance agent, and chef that did the same thing.  What they do is based on what is best for their family to finish out the academic year, not what will quell paranoia and anxious, impatient fans at their new destination.  Let's please give this some time and not sour the experience for his family before they ever even get settled in here.
