QuoteWashington was arrested on Saturday on a solicitation of prostitution charge. Once Baylor officials learned about the arrest, Washington was fired from the school.

Baylor:

"After a full criminal background check was completed and cleared, Brandon Washington was recently hired as an assistant in the Football Strength and Conditioning area," the statement said. "Baylor was notified on February 4 of Brandon Washington's arrest and terminated his employment immediately that day."

Washington played at LSU from 2001-05 and was a defensive lineman on the 2003 national championship team. He spent the last three seasons on Temple's strength and conditioning staff. He also previously worked on the Alabama strength and conditioning staff, per a Temple guide.

Heart warming to see that with all the crap the program has had to endure under Briles and company the school and staff have really learned their lesson about bad behavior. Yep, that will show everyone they're on the right track. :-X

QuoteMulkey publicly told fans Saturday to resort to violence against people who are critical of the way the Big 12 school handled allegations of sexual assault involving student-athletes.

"If somebody [is] around [you] and they ever say, 'I will never send my daughter to Baylor,' you knock them right in the face," Mulkey said into a microphone following a win over Texas Tech that secured a seventh straight Big 12 title.

QuoteTitle IX lawsuit filed against the university, in which a former Baylor volleyball player alleges she was gang raped by as many as eight Bears football players in 2012 as part of a "bonding" experience for the team.

There were at least four Baylor football players, and reportedly as many as eight, involved in the alleged attack, according to a report from the Houston Chronicle's Jenny Dial Creech. The victim claims in the suit that the university was indifferent to hers and other cases of reported sexual assault.

Creech reports that the lawsuit, which was filed on Tuesday, says there was "a video of at least two women being raped circulating amongst players."

QuoteAziz said he has been working on the case since last fall. He told me he plans to focus on the role of Baylor PD and possibly Waco PD had in how they handle those claims by these victims and their investigation in addition to that of the school's administration.

"The hope is to uncover as many facts as we can and then let the courts decide," Aziz said. "The more information that comes out, the more they (the courts and the Baylor Board) get empowered if they want to fix this problem."

COLUMN: New book on Baylor scandal, 'Violated,' a reminder why Art Briles should not coach again https://usat.ly/2wma2E9  via @USATODAY

QuoteNow that the lawsuits are starting to get settled, Art Briles is making noise about coaching again. His attorney, Mark Lanier, even told the Waco Tribune-Herald last week that schools have reached out to the former Baylor coach and practically predicted he'd be back on the sidelines in 2018.

So it's a good time for another reminder of why that shouldn't happen — not now, not ever.

And as it happens, that reminder arrives Tuesday in the form of Violated, a new book co-authored by ESPN reporters Paula Lavigne and Mark Schlabach that offers the most comprehensive account to date of the Baylor sexual assault scandal that brought down Briles, school president and chancellor Ken Starr and athletics director Ian McCaw among others.

Briles, in many ways, isn't even the book's main character. As the reporting by Lavigne and Schlabach makes clear, the problems at Baylor were too big and complex to be pinned on one villain, one football team or even one department...

Baylor destroyed Art Briles. Then it wrote him a letter saying it's not his fault, that he used to get a job.

QuoteThe school that fired him and then went out of its way to set fire to his reputation now believes Art Briles was not in the wrong. So much so they put it in writing.

A letter from Baylor to Briles helped to convince the Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League to hire Briles as their offensive coordinator on Monday.

"As you speak with others regarding these issues, you can be assured you may make certain statements without fear of contradiction from Baylor based on the information currently known to us.

"In particular, at this time we are unaware of any situation where you personally had contact with anyone who directly reported to you being the victim of sexual assault or that you directly discouraged the victim of an alleged sexual assault from reporting to law enforcement or University officials. Nor are we aware of any situation where you played a student athlete who had been found responsible for sexual assault.

"We wish you the very best in your future endeavors."

Liberty beats Baylor, 48-45, for its 1st win over a Power 5 team in school history. Ex-Baylor AD Ian McCaw, now at Liberty, was there, too.

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

That is correct.  They have a pretty large campus though (in terms of enrollment).  Larger than SMU and nearly as big as Baylor.

West Virginia will win. Baylor's going to get someone, though. Maybe two or three teams. This is a team far better than winless.

Remove the scandals at Baylor, and the state of the program doesn't look too much different than at UA.  3 wins?  Yippee.
