At Arkansas the recent success mostly came through the air.   BP and Enos have shown it can be done against top SEC defenses.   What style does the highest rated defensive coach in history use for O?   Passing see Bill Bellycheck and see him using WR's the rest of the league didn't want.

Texas Tech under Leach passes themselves into relevance.

It's the great equalizer.

Recruiting at Arkansas hasn't proven to be top 10 for the last 20 years, if ever.   Why count on it as a factor in improving under a coach?   Can we even really put this in the expectations category?

Ok coach, you are in the SEC and you'll have recruiting classes rated 10-12 during your time here.   Each week you'll be facing other coaches who are really talented and looking to exploit every weakness they find.   It's going to be a real grind.  You will need energy to succeed.

Does that sound like a 53 year old wanting to be loved and enjoy being home?   Or does it sound like a young stud who will jump off the mat after being punched in the nose?

Gus would have been a good hire in 2007 or even 2012.   Now?   He's not Saban or even Saban-lite.   Why handcuff ourselves to a coach that wants to be loved?
