Fellow Hogvillians... Happy Friday. We have a big weekend ahead of us and Saturday is going to be a lot of fun for College Football fans.  No coaching news is going to happen for us (other than Tenner maybe picking off a 3rd or 4th fall back option for us) until Sunday.  With that in mind lets enjoy the calm before the storm and get ready for Championship Saturday.  Here's my brief thoughts on the championships I'll be watching and I look forward to yours.

1. SEC Championship - #2 Auburn vs. #5 Georgia
Rematch. Auburn is playing as well as anybody in the country right now but it is incredibly hard to beat the same team twice.  Georgia got embarrassed by Auburn a few weeks ago and has had essentially two weeks to prepare for this game.  I also have a feeling that the outcome of this game greatly effects if Gus becomes our next HC.  I'm routing for Georgia because I want Gus, but my brain says Auburn pulls this one out. Should be a lot of fun.

2. ACC Championship - #1 Clemson vs. #6 Miami
Don't have a dog in this fight. I like both head coaches but I'm going to pull for the underdog Miami to play themselves into the CFP. Unfortunately the U's offense seems to have sputtered a little bit.

3. BigXII Championship - #3 OU vs. #11 TCU
Baker Mayfield and the Sooners have all kinds of momentum.  However, if there's a coach in the country I wouldn't wanna face twice its Gary Patterson (ok maybe Saban too). This game I think has the biggest chance of an upset assuming everybody sees tOSU as the favorite over Wisconsin.

4. BigTen - #4 Wisconsin vs. #8 tOSU
Honestly don't think this game will even be close.  When tOSU wins we'll have to listen why they deserve to be in the CFP and their AD is on the selection committee so they might slide in even thought I don't think they are deserving.

5. AAC - #20 Memphis vs. #11 UCF
Cornrow cult will be watching this one. Norvell is getting a lot of attention but UCF is a modern day BCS buster (remember the good ole days). I've got UCF winning this one and staying perfect on the season.

6. PAC12 - #10 USC vs. #12 Stanford
Gives us something to watch tonight. Never been a USCw fan so I'll go for the Cardinals. Honestly don't know much about this one but I'll be tuning in.

7. Sunbelt - Arkansas State vs. Troy
So the sunbelt doesn't have a championship game still and they can name Co-champs. ASU, Troy, and App St all have 1 conference loss.  App st hosts Louisiana and if they take care of business they can share a title with the winner of this game. Last year ASU went to #25 Troy and beat them 35-3 in late November.  This year they have a chance for their 6th out of the last 7 sunbelt titles. Neal Brown, Troy's coach, is on the radar for several teams as well and has a marquee win over LSU this year.

I'm sure some of you might take a look at FAU and Lane Kiffin as well and see if he wins against UNT.

My Picks:
Auburn
Clemson
TCU
tOSU
UCF
USCw
A State

I go along with you picks and the excitement this weekend brings. The only exception might be Stanford since USC has a habit of going nut in these games and never look like the team they've been all year. If UCF wins, it will be a big damper for all the Norvell fans who have/had him coming to the U of A. . As far as the Auburn/Georgia game goes to me, it's a tossup and I feel that the outcome will have no bearing on whether Gus comes here or not since that decision will be up to Gus, win or lose.

longtimeHogfan

All things being equal it's hard to beat a school like Georgia twice in the same year.  But things aren't equal.   Auburn's #1 running back, Kerryon Johnson, is day-to-day.  His backup and #2, Martin, is out for the remainder of the year.  If Kerryon can't  carry on I'll go with The Dogs.

That, imo, would make Gus available Saturday night.
I don't like to plan my day because then the word premeditated comes into the conversation.

Yeah I really have no idea on Trojans/Cardinals. You have a point about USC though.

Gary Patterson, who usually plays things close to the vest, came out this week and said that cocky little pr!ck Mayfield pegged one of his players in the head with a pass on purpose in the pregame warmups when TCU played at Norman.

He said TCU was forced to enter the field on the same side as OU players were already warming up on and "Dickson Street" Mayfield took exception, started to mouth off and pegged his player.

Patterson should have that FPD cop who busted Mayfield escort them onto the field Saturday in his FPD uniform.

I am anxious to see little Dickson Street get earholed in the NFL when he starts that cocky crap he does, if he even gets on the field.
An Old OL coach who's team couldn't block a hat last season... If things aren't MUCH better this fall,  enjoy Hot Springs Sammy!

P.S...and I  guess Pettway is Auburn's #2 guy that's out for the year.  Not Martin.

1. I am not seeing Auburn beating UGA without Pettway or Carry on my wayward son.
2. I think Clemson will win going away.
3. Would love to see TCU beat Oklahoma. I have never liked the Sooners.
4. Who has Wisconsin defeated this year that was worth a ****? Ohio State rolls. The media loves them and they will somehow make the playoffs.
5. Memphis-UCF might be a really fun game to watch. Interestingly, ASU curb stomped UCF last year in UCF's own stadium for the bowl game. Maybe UCF was not enthused. Apparently they are now though. Two up and coming coaches.
6. I am pulling for the Stanford CARDINAL.
7. If I were a better ASU fan, I would get my lazy but out there to root them on. But oh, there's TV, grill, garage refrigerator 15 steps away. I love home. I am also proud that ASU plays good football the last 7-8 years.

I love college football even when the Razorbacks are doing well. I really love it even more when they do well though.

Agreed on all points.

UCF is undefeated since that home bowl game.  Good addition.

I would go to Jonesboro for that game too if I didn't have prior engagements at my house.  Razorbacks above all but I'm a huge NCAAF fan period. Favorite sport/league by far.

Pettway or not the way Auburn's defense has been playing they could beet Georgia with our offense.

tOSU's AD being on the committee won't help their cause.  They'll have to be flawless against Wisconsin, OU will have to lose, Miami will have to win an ugly game against Clemson and Georgia will have to lose ugly.  Expect tOSU to finish 5th or 6th.

Stupid call by Stanford not to go for the field goal. Instead they were stopped short of the goal line and USC takes it all the way for a TD. USC wins by 3.
