Really silly for him to have turned down that much of a pay raise.

He has done all that he can do at OSU.  He can't seem to get over the OU obstacle (he can't win somewhat consistently against OU).

He would have had an easier time getting better defensive players at Tennessee than the defensive players he gets at OSU.

He may look back later and think, "well, I should have took the Tennessee job."

Think about that for a moment. Why would an offer that almost doubled his salary not be enough to make a change? There had to be something there that didn't look like it was a good idea to make the jump despite the money and I doubt that it had anything to do with angst over not beating Oklahoma more often. I have no idea what that might have been, but that sure doesn't make Tennessee look very good.
