I believe that we overachieve according to projected expectations. Their projection is worth the value of one East German Pfennig on today's world market.

From what I've heard, K-State has a lot returning this year, and they are thought to be a pretty good team. They might be a lot more competitive than the last time we saw them.

I have nothing but respect for Bill Snyder and what he has done there. I think it would be nice to have a permanent home-and-home series with them.

No guarantee that Kansas State will win against UCA.

UCA might be the 3rd best team Kansas State plays this season (3rd best after Oklahoma and Oklahoma State).

No. I checked before posting after someone left a note in a hermetically sealed envelope in a mayonnaise jar on my front porch.  The note said "Whorns bow to Hogs in Cotton."

So we have that going for us.

  • The mid range SEC tie in bowls are Belk, Liberty, Texas, and Music City.  If Arkansas falls into that grouping, Music City would make the most sense as the conference tries to rotate team bowl sites.  8+ wins would likely get them to Tax Slayer (Gator) in Jacksonville or Outback in stamps. The Cotton is at large bid teams that are outside the playoff.  Also Cotton is early this season on the 29th of December.

  • Barring an injury to AA, I think we aren't going to be available to the Liberty Bowl.  I see an 8-4 season ahead.  9-3 if we catch a break or one of Auburn or LSU is not as good as predicted.  If we slip to my worst case 7-5, then maybe.  If we are 6-6, barring a huge number of injuries, CBB's will have one more year at most and it will be a 9 or 10 win season or just kind of thing.  I don't think he wants to be fired.  I think he'll be busting it to win.

  • #28 by hogsanity on 21 Aug 2017
  • Not that these predictions are worth alot right now but these repeated matchups are a product of all the stupid tie ins. Go back to letting the bowls pick whoever they want out side of the ny 6. IF the Liberty want Oregon St and Ball St both with losing records, let the Liberty pick them. These tie ins and conf slots are terrible.
  • #29 by oldhawg on 21 Aug 2017
  • Not sure what folks have against Kansas State in the Liberty Bowl, if the Razorbacks are 6-6 or 7-5.  Bill Snyder is an outstanding coach and person, the Wildcats play with intent and enthusiasm, a win against them is not automatic or predestined, and they have very dedicated fans, plus Memphis is a relatively easy venue for most resident Arkansans to travel to.

I am hoping for a bigger and better outcome for the Hogs, but Kansas State in the Liberty bowl would be a just reward for  a mediocre season.

That sucks about the Cotton Bowl. For the entirety of college football it seems, no bowl game with good teams was played before the new year. Only twice has the cotton bowl every been played before the new year. Both games were played with 10 top teams (once in 1966 with #4 uga and #10 SMU and most recently in 2015 as part of the playoff with #2 bama vs #3 MSU). Obviously wasn't alive for the first time, but I lamented it in 2015 and will do so again in 2017.

    It just isn't right.

If we don't win 9 this year in the regular season I will be unhappy with the direction of the program, unless of course we only win 8 and the 4 that we lose are barn burners down to the wire against better teams that don't involve blowing 1st half leads. But I don't see us blowing leads this year. I think the light has come on and we will see a different emphasis this year that involves never letting off the pedal once we get ahead.

What is more, I'll go out on a limb and say that the SEC West "should" come down to two teams this year...Auburn and Alabama with Arkansas the dark horse and spoiler. I don't think that LSU or A&M get it done throughout the season this year.

The SEC East comes down to Georgia, Tennessee and Florida. I think that Georgia wins out and gets their arses handed to them in the SECCG by whichever team represents the West. As long as we finish games we will probably have a chance to get a really good bowl game.

The TCU game will be one of our toughest all season long. They will come prepared and that game will probably go down to the wire. TCU may surprise everyone and win the Big 12, IF, they can keep their QB's head screwed on straight. He is the one guy on their team that can either hand you the game by 14 points or beat you by 14. Just depends on which guy shows up.

  • Don't want to see the Liberty or Texas Bowls.  Music City could be a good time especially vs an ACC team.  I would love to get into the Taxslayer or Outback, but know that those bowls aren't going to love getting us and will probably voice that opinion.  I think we would have to be the obvious choice for the conference to send us to FL.

  • I think the best possible bowl for Arkansas, in the most optimistic outcome for the season, would be 10-2 and a Cotton Bowl vs a Big XII team (probably OU, OSU, or WVU).
9-3 might get Arkansas into the Cotton Bowl, but I doubt it. This record would most likely see the Hogs in the Gator Bowl vs an ACC opponent, or in the Citrus Bowl vs a Big Ten team.
8-4 is Music City, or back to the Belk.
7-5 is Liberty vs K-State...or some other BigXII also-ran.
    6-6...who cares?!

I'm going with 9-3 and a Citrus Bowl vs Wisconsin!

I mean, that's not a prediction or anything.  We may not make one.  But things usually aren't as bad (or as good) as they appear.  The truth is almost always somewhere in the middle.  We get three cupcakes, and TAMU is VERY beatable, even for us.  Win that game, and we just need to find two more wins.  Not saying it's gonna happen, but it's not like it'd be shocking.
