Borrowing an idea from AL.com, who ultimately are the 25 most influential people affecting sports and associated with the state of Arkansas.

Here's a link to their article for ideas:

Houston Nutt and Bobby Petrino?  - - - - They might serve as the poster representatives depicting the type of head coaches we never want to experience again.

On a more serious note, it seems to me that the Arkansas sporting FANS should be eminently influential in regard to determinations and decisions affecting the fortunes of Razorback sports; - - - but i don't really think that such is the case, - - - - - - and I really don't feel qualified to say whether or not that high-level lack of  consideration and deference to the sentiments of the Razorback fans is a good thing or a bad thing, in the final analysis..

I haven't lived in Arkansas for a while. Is the Stephens family still as involved in UA sports, or did the GSD run them off?

Is there any of JFB's GOB network still on the BOT?

I'm sure Nolan still has some influence in the state even if not at the UA directly.

What about the Tysons, Waltons, Reynolds or Hunts?

What about the AAU basketball guys?

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been a 'game changer' for Arkansas football program  https://www.seccountry.com/arkansas/arkansas-bret-bielema-jerry-jones-hall-of-fame-razorbacks

QuoteDallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones [was] officially inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame during a ceremony Saturday night in Canton.

What Jones isn't being inducted for is his contributions to Arkansas' football program. But the significance of what he's done for the Razorbacks isn't lost on anyone currently in Fayetteville.

# 1 Bielema
# 2 Long   (Because B's production determines his future)
# 3 Jerry Jones
# 4 Dave Van Horn
# 5 Mike Anderson
# 6 Wally Hall (like him or not, he's been around forever and has old people ties out the wazoo
# 7 Scott Varady (Exec Director of the Razorback Foundation)
# 8 Frank Broyles.    This is entirely honorary, because of his lack of day to day engagement with the Razorbacks anymore--  but he still carries such cache that even a rumor about his health moves Hog Nation.
# 9 Lanny-  The man who moves the fan presence in virtual Arkansas.
#10 Terry Mohajir  - AD at Arkansas State.  Shows the placement in the state pecking order.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Long has way more sway with Arkansas sports. His decisions affect all 3 major sports.

He is responsible for stadium expansions as well. His hirings and firings can directly affect the direction of high school sports in the state as well.

Sterling from Center Ridge and THAT'S THE TRUTH.

Last name DeSalvo or Paladino or Hart? That covers about 90% of Center Ridge.

Gary Blair should be on there. To remind everyone that Bev Lewis is an idiot and to never let someone in Fayetteville make employment decisions based on gender.

What do we mean by influential? Are we talking able to bring about change? Also, are talking Razorback sports or sports in the state of Arkansas as a whole?

If it is UofA centered, then it has to be Long, BB, MA, DVH, and the BOT.

No Waltons, Tysons, Hunts or Stephens?

Not directly, no.  They call people who make the decisions, they aren't the people who make the decisions.   And they rarely, if ever, have direct authority over those who do, in any other capacity.

Money only equates to influence over the long haul.  Over the day to day, year to year, it is pretty limited.

Wally Hall has absolutely zero influence with UA these days or really the state of Arkansas. He's been past his prime by 10 yrs. The athletic department can't stand him.

His remaining strength is as a rabble rouser; we largely still haven't purging the Little Rock mistake games because of his bully pulpit.

Thirty years ago, it was much moreso, but until that generation dies off, it'll linger like a bad fart.
