Austin Allen threw for 1000 more yards, the same number of TDs,  and fewer interceptions last year than Namath did in three years at Alabama.  Different times, but Namath's college passing numbers were similar to the Arkansas QBs of his time, Billy Moore and Freddie Marshall, who were both better runners. 

Namath won that famous Super Bowl, but he lost more games in the NFL than he won.  He threw 173 TDs to 220 INTs.  Namath was flashy.  Howard Cosell loved him.  He won a couple of MVP awards, and he threw for almost 28,000 yards.  He's in the Hall of Fame, but he isn't generally considered to be one of the all-time great QBs in the NFL.

Austin Allen is pretty darn good.  He can spin the ball and should get a shot at the NFL.  And he does look a bit like Namath with the hair.

He might resemble Broadway Joe, but he simply doesn't have the arm Namath had.  I saw Namath and the Jets play the New Orleans Saints in the late 60s in the old Tulane Stadium in New Orleans in a summer pre-season game.  My oh my, what an arm Namath had.........
