As usual the 'Nothing to See Here' justice system at 'Bama will get it's gears in motion. Saban will doubtless sit Hand out for one play during their most insignificant game of the season and call it 'tough justice'.

Scarblog: Two words for anyone who thinks Alabama senior Da'Shawn Hand's DUI arrest is a laughing matter, no big deal or an excuse to launch another in an endless, mindless series of "my team is more virtuous than your team" flamefests:

As for Hand, his actual guilt is yet to be determined, and if he is guilty, his actual punishment yet to be decided by the law or Nick Saban. The Alabama coach will do what he does in terms of discipline without regard for public opinion, and don't expect a public explanation of his reasoning.

It's always risky to predict what any coach will do when he's confronted with bad behavior because each individual case is different. Consider Saban's recent history of dealing with players arrested for DUI, at least in terms of playing-time punishment.

The senior was not driving at the time police made contact, TideSports.com reported, but was sleeping at the wheel of the car with the keys in the ignition. Hand was arrested Saturday morning and charged with driving under the influence.

AL.com requested the police report from the university police department, which referred the inquiry to the school's media relations office. It responded late Monday afternoon with a report stating the time of arrest was 4:30 a.m. Saturday at the 1100 block of University Blvd -- just off the Strip near campus and a few blocks from Bryant-Denny Stadium.

State law does not require an individual to be driving to be charged with a DUI. It states no person "shall be in actual physical control of any vehicle" while under the influence. According to TideSports.com, Hand was sleeping in the driver's seat with the ignition on in the car parked in a parking lot near campus.

Coach Nick Saban released a statement on the matter Saturday.

"This type of behavior is not acceptable and we are disappointed in Da'Shawn's actions," Saban said. "We are still gathering information and will evaluate what we need to do in terms of appropriate discipline as we move forward, so better choices and decisions can be made in the future."
