I thank you.

I think Houston Nutt is underrated and will win a BCS Bowl at Ole Miss within 3 years.

He has better facilities, recruiting ground, fan support, and financial backing. Plus, Ole Miss seems to have that special swagger about them. You can't really put into words but it's there. They, much like the U.S. before Pearl Harbor, are a sleeping giant that has been woken from it's slumber.

I'm a Hog fan but I just wish we were more like Ole Miss.

I have no desire to look it all up again, but at one time I compared the two schools in just about every category and posted all the results on another board. The UA leads OM in EVERy conceivalbe category when it comes to football and history. We've put more players in the NFL, we have a higher all time winning percentage, we've been to more bowl games (although truth be told our winning percentage in bowl games sucks and OM does trump us here) we have MUCH nicer facilities, our donations are higher year in and year out, we have more titles of various sorts, we are just a superior program to them in almost every statistical category. Where oh were do you get the idea that OM is a better situation than Arkansas? I mean come on man, we're not talking about Texas which does have legitimate built in advantages over a school like Arkansas.

I don't think Fulmer has run off half his talent with email abuse and thug intimidation because he had no idea how to use them

What the hell happened to TN?  They used to be able to produce at least system QBs;  Martin, Ainge, even Clausen wasn't that bad.
Clue... Cutcliffe is winning at Duke. :)

The ground can't cause a fumble,  as in,  if you hit the ground and become seperated from the ball, it isn't a fumble.

In Stoerner's case,  he effectively laid the ball on the ground.  The game officials got it right.

I've seen thousands of "downed" balls and everytime they've involved the player putting his knee on the ground while possessing the ball.

Once again,  you're "special".

Not every time, there is also the spike, but your point is still the same, the officials made the right call in that situation.

The spike is an incomplete pass.  The line of scrimmage remains the same.

No sir if it was considered an incomplete pass, then it would be intentional grounding and result in a penalty, because no quarterback I know of has EVER moved out of the box to spike the ball.

The spike is a by-rule exemption from Intentional Grounding under Rules Section 7-1 of the 2008 NCAA Rulebook.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

He didn't work out at Ole Miss, so it will be interesting to see how he does in his new job. Wouldn't it be ironic if Nutt had a great year at Ole Miss and Tennessee hired him next year ? Do you think he would take the job if offered ?

I thank you.
how old is cutcliffe? isnt he getting a bit long in the tooth to be starting out again as HC?
and im pretty sure he had some heart problems, at least at one time.

man Nutt has been just a play or two away.  he's close.  we just let of the rope here.  Ole Miss is lucky to have him.  I mean with the Wild Rebel, Nutt is gonna set the SEC on fire this year.   Nutt is the best Xs and Os coach in the SEC.

That's a deep chain reaction rumor. What about the commitments Gus has to come play for him next year. Is he going to leave them high and dry. Cut and run ?

I thank you.

Why should Gus be any different than any other coach in that regard?

Trottsky

Not a Vols fan in any way here, and not a defender of SEC over everybody else.

I agree Tenn blew chunks against UCLA, and their defense, their field goal kicker, mostly reeked, BUT ...

... the officials blew the call on the go-ahead drive for UCLA before overtime. There were at least two linemen downfield on the would-be screen pass. Everybody was past the line, including the receiver.

Tennessee put themselves in a position to lose, but sheesh who were those guys in stripes? Robbed 'em.

Tennessee implodes just after it goes off Arkansas's schedule.  Talk about bad timing!!

They usually loook very average....until they play us.
"If I lived back in the wild west days, instead of carrying a six-gun in my holster, I'd carry a soldering iron. That way, if some smart-aleck cowboy said something like "Hey, look. He's carrying a soldering iron!" and started laughing, and everybody else started laughing, I could just say, "That's right, it's a soldering iron. The soldering iron of justice." Then everybody would get real quiet and ashamed, because they had made fun of the soldering iron of justice, and I could probably hit them up for a free drink."

You got that right. If UT gets rid of CPF the search will be a big deal. UT has a LOT of money and fans support and an AD that is not scared to go outside the UT family to hire. But HDN will get nowhere near Neyland stadium except as an opp coach.

No. The new AD is a big fan of going outside. With the amount of money UT will be able to pay if CPF is gone it will be a big name that comes in. I like CDC but he is where he is for a reason.

If you believe NC stand for near championship......you're right.  He is a self proclaimed near champion.  If you don't win....guess what.....you lose.

Edit:  No thanks.

2nd Edit:  Do you not agree that in order to play for a championship one would need to play in a BCS bowl game?

2006. A play here against Florida, and a play or two there against LSU. All of a sudden were would have had a legitimate claim to the title game.
