I wonder how the Fulmer huggers are liking it these days?  Should have fired him after their 5-6 season.

Glad we got Petrino when the opportunity presented itself!

Now if we can just get Miami to break Tebow in half on Saturday...

What the hell happened to TN?  They used to be able to produce at least system QBs;  Martin, Ainge, even Clausen wasn't that bad.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Tenn was bigger, faster, and stronger and lost the game to a team that gave them 4 picks in the first half.

The years of thug like behavior at Tenn are starting to show on the field..........

Crompton has happy feet. We saw that in '06 and he still seems jumpy at times. If you pressure or sack him he will unload the ball asap on the next play.

BigDeal

Tennessee is in for a long season. The offensive coordinator looked confused up there at times. I think he plays scared.  This loss was an embarrassment to the SEC.  Time for Phil to ride out of town.

I thank you.

You'd have happy feat too if J. Anderson greeted you like he did Crompton in that game........

I just hope they don't snatch up Todd Graham + Gus.

True enough. His protection was not always there, for sure. But it looked like he "stayed rattled" longer than you want and threw some pretty bad passes when the protection was actually pretty good.

Don't get me wrong, he was getting clobbered and I'm not calling him a [CENSORED] or anything. But *I* an a old computer geek watching the game on tv. He's an SEC QB.

In other breaking news I can't take a punch from Mike Tyson or slam the ball on Shaq

I was reading some posts over on Volnation and they look like ours a couple years ago.  As bad as Fulmer is, he is still 10 times a better coach than Nutt was.

I was at the Rose Bowl tonight sitting in the Tennessee section, I know I know, I'm a traitor...but it felt like I was sitting at a Razorback game last year listening to everyone complain about Nutt...only this crowd was completely against Fulmer.  I can see him having a bad season and being outed.

BigSexyHog

Watching them lose tonight was prue greatness....  Couldn't happen to a better coach the Phat Phil...

Okay, they have hired a new offensive coordinator (from outside the Tennessee family, as we were told).  Did anyone see anything different from the Tennessee offense, than what we have seen in the past -- except, that Crompton can't make the throws that the TN qb's have made in the past?  Fulmer may be more like Nutt than we know!   ;)

He didn't work out at Ole Miss, so it will be interesting to see how he does in his new job. Wouldn't it be ironic if Nutt had a great year at Ole Miss and Tennessee hired him next year ? Do you think he would take the job if offered ?

I thank you.

As much as I despise the Vols---and believe me, I do---if they had a coaching vacancy, they'd aim a little higher than Dale. I know you're proud of your boy, King Hugger, but he got hired at a school that failed to win a single conference game last year...Let's not act like he's Bear Bryant or Knute Rockne.

Like FelixJonesorDMAC?, I thank me as well.

Maybe you are right. I still think before it is all over, Houston Nutt will still win a NC somewhere. He has been too darned close in the past.

I thank you.

Too darned close as in zero major conference titles, zero BCS bowl appearances, and, as far as I can remember, only one New Year's Day bowl win period, which was done with a group of players that were predominantly brought in by Danny Ford? I mean, I can appreciate you sticking to your guns, but I just don't see how you can possibly get any sort of grip on the straw you are grasping at.

Close.  They were all brought in an developed by Ford and his staff,  notably Stoerner under the tutelage of Joe Ferguson.

Every team that wins a NC gets lucky at some point, although Tenny that year got some of the craziest breaks I've ever seen.  Still, he won it, with his players.  Nutt never has and never will come close.

It was the correct (non) call.  There was no call to make.  Stoerner left the ball on the ground.  It's textbook.

Why does Tennessee have to embarrass the SEC once a year? It's expected that Miss. St, Ole Piss, Vandy, Kentucky, and even Arkansas make an ass out of themselves against inferior conferences but Tennessee is somewhat respected and relevant in the football world so their losses are painful for the conference.

Why? Why do you do it to us UT?

I was trolling Hornfans last night and it was little to no surprise to see the "Big 12>SEC" and the "This is SEC football?" threads. Like I said, certain teams are expected to lose (that's us) and then there are the one's that are "supposed" to display the best of our conference.

Albert I sat with 6 College officials and watched that play twice. All 6 Officials totally agreed that the ball should have been blown dead and it should have been 4th down for those Hogs.

On what basis?  He didn't have a knee down,  no part of his body other than his feet touched the ground before he lost contact with the ball.

Too close?  When?  In '98, 8-0 wasn't close.  We still would have had 4 wins to go, had we beaten TN.
In '06, 10-1 wasn't that close as we still had 3 wins to go to win the BCS, ASSUMING we would have jumped Michigan in the final BCS poll as UF did.  I'm not sure we would have jumped Michigan.

He (stoerner) Intentionally put the ball on the ground. he didn't drop it he placed it on the ground
that is called "downing the ball". When the ball touched the ground it was still in his hand therefore
according to these Officials he "downed the ball". Play over, Forth down Arkansas.

I think Houston Nutt is underrated and will win a BCS Bowl at Ole Miss within 3 years.

He has better facilities, recruiting ground, fan support, and financial backing. Plus, Ole Miss seems to have that special swagger about them. You can't really put into words but it's there. They, much like the U.S. before Pearl Harbor, are a sleeping giant that has been woken from it's slumber.

I'm a Hog fan but I just wish we were more like Ole Miss.
