After a total of 19 points in 12 games in the 08-09 season, Weems has played 24 games for a total of 132 points in the 09-10 season.

He's increased his field goal percentage from 32% to 44% and his FT percentage from 38% to 53%.  Keep in mind the stats don't show all since he played limited minutes last year.

Sonny had a 3-game string of double-digit scoring in early December after playing limited minutes in November and has provided the Raptors with new energy off the bench.  In the last few games, Weems has moved from the end of bench to a reliable sub that can provide a bit of scoring and some energy, as well as his acrobatics.   He also seems to have experienced a major jump in confidence (which comes with more minutes).  I noticed several times in his last few games that he seemed comfortable taking decent defenders one on one.

Obviously the major reason for jump in stats is that he has played double the games this year that he played last year, but he does seem to be improving with time.  How far do you believe Sonny will go in the NBA?  An eventual NBDL player having a current streak of luck?  A player deep on the bench that will wind up getting traded several times and having a quiet, ineffective career?  A solid role player?  A very good role player?  A game-changing primary scoring option?

Solid Role player.  It would be great if he could get enough pub to make the Slam Dunk contest.  That would get his name out and create some buzz.  Either way it's great when guys like Sonny work their tales off and make it to the league, much like Pargo.
Little known fact, but prior to settling on Guantanamo, the Pentagon wanted to house terror suspects at War Memorial Stadium.  It was deemed to be cruel and unusual punishment and in violation of the Geneva Convention.

He'll be a role player most of his career, with maybe a couple peak seasons as starter. He is too athletic and good for the NBDL, but doesn't have the jump shot for a long productive NBA career. Though improving his D will never completely be there. Ive been watching Sonny since college, and think he'll end up being a good role player, 20-25 minutes. Love to be wrong, just think he is already to for along in his development.
