Guess I'm the only one who didn't want him back. Played way too out of control and took too many stupid shots for my taste.

After losing Aidoo they had money to spend.

Quote from: RebelliousHog on April 29, 2024, 09:54:22 amI guess I'm not good with hypotheticals.  I mean we ARE playing TAMU, so what difference does it make? And, as some have said, polls are meaningless. Get in the top 8 and play at home.

It's like saying, "If we had not dropped the bombs on Japan, would we still be fighting in the Pacific"?  No one knows because we DID drop the bombs on Japan.
No reason for you to waste our time with your non post on the question.

Quote from: TheGrove68 on Yesterday at 11:29:02 pmYep I'd say that UK and Ten are as least as big if not bigger than Ark. No doubt as the last game of the year Mizzou is playing hard versus Ark. and is focused and bought in but I really think hog fans rely on the idea/excuse that Mizzou is playing out of their minds to win and Ark. is zombie walking through the process and doesn't care.

The truth is Ark. just hasn't been that good in a long time and it's showed on the field in the Win Loss Column and in the outcome of games.

So you contend that Missouri doesn't play harder against the hogs? Cool, let's put that theory to the test. Let's look at the hogs and missouri vs common opponents and then how they played against each other.

2014: +35 (-7)
2015: +32 (+25)
2016: +54 (-4)
2017: -3 (-3)
2018: -4 (-38)
2019: -5 (-10)
2020: +56 (-2)
2021: +31 (+17)
2022: +18 (-2)
2023: +8 (-34)

Bolded are the years where the final score between Arkansas and the tigers was vaguely on par with how the two teams fared against common opponents. 40% of the seasons, that was a solid predictor. 60% of the time, it was decidedly not. Note that in all of these seasons, the number of common opponents was always at least two and in most seasons, exactly two.

Notice the lack of games where the hogs played significantly in the mizzou game vs how they did against common opponents.

You might also notice the alternating years. That was largely games played at Mizzou.

Jump Ball / Re: 30 for 30: Calipari

Quote from: Valleyhog10 on Yesterday at 11:18:39 pmI watched it when it first came out and then again when Cal announced he was coming to Arkansas. I agree 100%. It is an honest depiction of his life and shows why his former players still love him years later because he always had their backs and truly cared about him. Great documentary, every Hog basketball fan should watch it.
I don't get why anyone wouldn't think that the 30 for 30 shows aren't great.

I've never watched many and still an not sure what the title refers to.  In any event, I watched the Calipari doc tonight.  What a great coach.

Can't imagine why anyone would care about Muss or USC at this point. Maybe we'll face them in the tourney someday? But if we don't then they, and him, are irrelevant.

Quote from: Coach Dal on Yesterday at 11:00:46 pmThat came out of nowhere.  I didn't even know Baylor was in the running, they obviously paid up.  I was really hoping we'd get him.

Looks like we need to shift our efforts to JT Toppin or Achor Achor.

Muss went after Omier hard last Spring. This is the 2nd time he wasn't interested in Arkansas. We were never on the Rutgers center's list, who is gone to Bama.

Who else is playing the ranked teams we are

I was hoping to end 4-4 in our last eight but starting out at 0-2 makes that hard so I will accept 3-5

:)
Out of Arkansas, TN, A&M & Clemson, only Arkansas was playing a ranked team this weekend , and we were playing #8. Here's how the four teams came out.
Arkansas lost a road series at #8 Kentucky, 2 games to 1
Tennessee won a road series at unranked Florida, 2 games to 1
A&M lost a road series at unranked LSU, 2 games to 1
Clemson won a home series against unranked Georgia Tech, 2 games to 1

I fail to see how that justifies any drastic poll movement except Kentucky moving a few spots up. I kind of get it if Tennessee jumps us to #2 & we drop to #3, but only kind of. We also won a road series 2 games to 1 at unranked Florida. Clemson home series 2 to 1 win over an unranked team? Meh.
