A second tier program doesn't fire their coach for the results he had. Even Stan Heath was canned after consecutive tournaments. John Pelphrey, after a disastrous year 2 or 3, was shoved out the door after posting an improved record with an elite recruiting class on deck. I think Arkansas has carried ourselves as a big program in basketball. The Dana Altman embarrassment took a long time to shake off and underwhelming tournament results combined with frustrating recruit misses (Ricardo Ratliffe, Archie Goodwin, KeVaughn Allen, Malik Monk, Reggie Perry) just made it feel like the program was stuck in neutral when the program should actually be a Ferrari flying the down highway at 100 mph. Musselman unlocked that potential in the modern era. 8
