Would love to see Samford beat LSU.

It happened when John Brady was the coach at Samford. I was on faculty at that time. LSU hired Brady the next year.

Bucknell 49-56 at UNC, they had just cut to 4 as well - our 30 pt win is starting to look pretty freaking good!  Heads will start turning when people actually realize it.  As of now, the broadcasters are still just slobbering over UNCs junk and in awe and shock with "how quick they are getting back on defense and their incredible length plus ball movement" with not a single mention of our huge win over Bucknell to this point.

I just turned the game on and he was the first guy I saw. I thought the same thing as you thought! It was looking like that injury could play a factor going into PK80 but I guess not. Although that hand is wrapped pretty good, still, you would think it would be hard to play with wrapped.

59-56!!! UNC starting to tighten up quite a bit!!

I am soooo freaking happy right now, I love this so much!

Down 3! Carolina getting some Carolina calls.

UNC getting some calls but overall pulling away as expected.

Pulling away?? They are only up by 6 with under 7 minutes to play?

4 point game with 6 to go. UNC lost a ton of guys and didn't slip in the rankings. It's a wash as to which outcome helps us more, so I'm rooting for Bucknell.

Nope. Not even if they lose this game.

Interesting. I️ see Arkansas winning big.

If Bucknell could have hit free throws, that game would have ended much differently.

We got us ourselves a ball game, for all y'all not even thinking about Oklahoma y'all better change your mindset right now and not call it the end of the world if we lose

Well I will tell you what, I watched that entire game and UNC was not half assing it.  They were playing extremely hard the entire game and actually played pretty dang good to get that 12 pt win.  That is just a really good Bucknell team that will be in the tourney come the end of the year, but having to start 4 consecutive road games against 4 tourney teams in Moumouth, Arkansas, UNC, and next Maryland - that is a pretty brutal stretch.  They have some great players though, I think that Zach Thomas is an incredible all around player with a great shot and I think he will be drafted next year.

All in all, this just helps confirms my thoughts on our team this year that we are borderline elite and are going to be able to play and keep up with any team in the country when we are playing well!  This team is built for large tourneys, just like Nolans old teams, I really could not be more excited to see what happens this year, the sky is the limit for this team, but like most people think, we will have some let down games and lose some surprising ones, but hopefully they are early and we learn from them and continue to gel and dominate!  Lets goooooo! Woo Pig!

Looks like I gave UNC too much credit on a short regulation 6 point swing vs Bucknell lol! My comment wasn't to mean UNC would score the last 25 points in the game and obliterate them. But simply be the team that is supposed to be the victor in that matchup.

Comparing UNC and Arkansas performances against Bucknell:

Offense (Bucknell defense)
Points per possession:   Hogs - 1.30    Heels - 1.20
2-FG%:                        Hogs - 57%    Heels - 51%
3-FG%                          Hogs - 40%    Heels - 35%
3-FGs:                          Hogs - 6         Heels - 6
eFG%:                          Hogs - 58%    Heels - 52%
FT%:                            Hogs - 76%    Heels - 76%
ORB%:                         Hogs - 40%    Heels - 37%
Possessions per TO:       Hogs - 5.97    Heels - 5.94
Poss. per Assist:            Hogs - 6.5      Heels - 3.5
Poss. per FTA:                Hogs - 3.1     Heels - 2.3
Poss. per PF (Bucknell):  Hogs - 3.7     Heels - 3.0
Poss. per blk (Bucknell):  Hogs - 25.9    Heels - 12.9
Poss. per steal (Bucknell):Hogs - 25.9    Heels - 19.3

Defense (Bucknell offense)
Points per possession:  Hogs - 0.94    Heels - 1.05
2-FG%:                        Hogs - 48%    Heels - 51%
3-FG%                        Hogs - 41%    Heels - 39%
3-FGs:                          Hogs - 11         Heels - 11
eFG%:                          Hogs - 54%    Heels - 55%
FT%:                            Hogs - 56%    Heels - 67%
ORB%:                         Hogs - 20%    Heels - 19%
Possessions per TO:       Hogs - 4.6    Heels - 5.9
Poss. per Assist:            Hogs - 5.17     Heels - 5.15
Poss. per FTA:                Hogs - 4.31     Heels - 4.29
Poss. per PF:                  Hogs - 3.7     Heels - 4.1
Poss. per blk:                 Hogs - 15.5     Heels - 11.0
Poss. per steal:               Hogs - 7.8     Heels - 12.9

Hogs shot the ball better from all over the court and got their shot blocked a lot less.  Encouragingly Arkansas was slightly better on the boards than the Heels, which is not traditionally a point of emphasis for Arkansas at either end.  The Tar Heels had a higher assist rate and got more help from the refs.  We know how that goes.

Defense was fairly even everywhere except that the Hogs turned over Bucknell significantly more often while rebounding and forcing misses at the same rate.  The Heels blocked shots more often, but we forced a lower 2-FG%.
The jawbone of an ass is just as dangerous a weapon today as in Sampson's time.

Would love to see Samford beat LSU.

Unlike football, where winning 11 or 12 games is the key to getting to the playoff, if you're a P5 team, in college basketball, strength of schedule is very important. We very much need every team on our schedule to be ranked as highly as possible to ensure that we make the tourney and/or once we're in, get seeded as highly as possible.

For that reason, and that reason alone, I want every team on our schedule to go undefeated except when they play us. In SEC play, it's more complicated than that obviously since there has to be a winner and a loser, but especially now that the SEC is improving in hoops, we need that momentum to continue with as many OOC wins as possible.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I believe this to be true.

Fair point since we play both schools but we do play LSU twice, making their RPI more important than Samford's.

LSU only favored by 8 points at home against Samford tonight which is pretty low considering we beat them by 40pts...

Oh and will all the talk about how good Mizzou is going to be this year, I was a bit surprised to see that they are 4pt underdogs against Utah tonight.
