The Recruiting Guy

June 12, 2006, 01:44:09 pm Last Edit: June 12, 2006, 01:45:55 pm by The Recruiting Guy
Jayson is a 6-2 280 pounder with 5.1 speed in the forty. Talked to Jayson today.

TRG: Tell me your offers?

Jayson: Arkansas, Iowa, KU, KSU and Missouri.

TRG: Who have you visited?

Jayson. Those schools and Nebraska.

TRG: How does Arkansas compare to those schools?

Jayson: They had the best weight room. I liked it the best. They were the only school to have a professor talk to me and they were the only school to sit down with me and show me film. The OL coach sat down with me.

TRG: Overall who had the best facilities?

Jayson: Arkansas and Nebraska. Missouri is upgrading and will be there to.

TRG: Of those schools who do you like the best?

Jayson: Missouri, KSU and Arkansas in no particular order.

TRG: What's the most important thing in choosing a school?

Jayson: Academics and a place that likes to run the ball.

TRG: Who's recruiting you for Arkansas?

Jayson. Coach Malzahn. He a real good guy. I like him a lot.

TRG: When do you plan to make a decision?

Jayson: No clue. When ever it feels right.

TRG: I understand you have a grandmother that lived in Arkansas?

Jayson: Yes. She lived in Mark Tree before she moved up here. I still have relatives there.

Jayson is good to go academically. He plans to make his official visits this fall.

I'm working on getting a tape of Jayson.

Aftershave

It seems that this past recruiting season & now in 07, we're in on a lot players coveted by the likes of Kansas, K Sate, Mizzu, sometimes Iowa. I can't understand how offering these type kids helps us compete in the SEC. They may be great college players at some point but I wonder why this coaching staff seems to set it's sights on lower D-1 players.  Easier to get? The only ones they can get?  I mean how the hell did Mack Brown get in here & steal Zac P?

KU went bowling last year. Mizzou has been a perennial bowl team, ala UA. KState was the darling for nothing-to-something turnarounds on the D1 level. Iowa? C'mon, Iowa is a BCS-caliber team.

This kid can play. The only concern is whether he can handle pass blocking that will be requisite with the UA system.
I am a Hog fan. I was long before my name was etched, twice, on the sidewalks on the Hill. I will be long after Sam Pittman and Eric Mussleman are coaches, and Hunter Yuracheck is AD. I am a Hog fan when we win, when we lose and when we don't play. I love hearing the UA band play the National Anthem on game day, but I sing along to the Alma Mater. KSU and Ole Piss are recruiting the crap out of Arkansas this year.

The real Hogules

Jayson Palmgren was described at a recent camp he attended as a "ROAD GRADER".
If he can pass protect as well as he can open a hole, I'll take him in a heart beat!
Bobby's back and he ain't here to paint!

A few things I over looked in my notes.

Jayson's bench is 350 and squat is 520. Vertical is 23 inches.

Jayson wants to go into coaching.

Maybe he could learn to be a good PAT holder and we could fast track him on the Dowwell plan. ;D
